His facial hair or the piece? Sorry, couldn't resist! Interesting character!

I hate to say it, but "price guides" in almost any category from 9 years ago are not particularly useful.

Unfortunately, this has enough of the tell-tale "fake" characteristics (unglazed bottom in combination with a questionable flowing signature, red glaze commonly associated with the fakes, and lack of the paper-thinness associated with Ohr pots, for example), that I, also, would seriously doubt its authenticity.

With so many of the "Ohr" pots on the market turning out to be not actually made by him, it really is going to need to be authenticated by someone who has actually regularly handled both. Tempting as it is, that is probably not something that can be done on line, or from photos. It's a very specialized area, with only a handful of actual experts.

So you've actually handled Ohr pieces I take it and speak from experience? Lucky chap!

Or is this perhaps some information gleaned from the interwebs?

Not saying yours is or isn't, but:

Yes, I have, and actually own a couple authenticated pieces. But I would never claim to be one of the handful of "experts."

I am, however, extremely skeptical when certain characteristics show up. Some fakes are very well-done, to the point they need those experts to determine authenticity; with other pieces, there's really no doubt.

Unfortunately this video can only be viewed from within the USA. I'll copy the url to my other computer and fire up the VPN so it'll think I live there and watch it then

    Thanks anyway!

was it ever discussed that the shade below the signature looks like an ear conch ? maybe the crazy guy impressed his into the wet clay ? as a little hidden joke - Ohr is ear in German.
