Featured georg jensen RGold bracelet

I am no expert but one thing I have learned, do not rely on sites that sell for information on items. No one polices these sites for accuracy, I don't trust any of them!

good question, i would guess at not being made in england but

 

Precious metal items imported by Georg Jensen to the UK would be assayed, stamped with import marks and the 'GJLD' sponsor mark; precious metal items made for, or much less likely, by Jensen in the UK would bear regular hallmarks and the same sponsor mark...

Just chiming in to say I also own a bangle stamped with this GJLtd mark (having bought it believing it to be Georg Jensen, though it was not sold to me as that). Mine's not in the Georg Jensen style either (typical silver 50s/60s bangle).

From the research I've done, jewellery stamped with this mark are not Georg Jensen designs, it just means they were sold through their retail store in the UK (unless it has additional Jensen marks). I've since seen the mark mostly on 1950s-70s-ish era bangles. I don't think you could honestly sell it as a Georg Jensen, I decided to keep mine in the end

Agree. Very English looking, and not necessarily an English equivalent level as Georg Jensen quality. Which is why it is so puzzling.

I think if you include the term "sponsor mark" in the listing no one could object.

 

Charlie I’ve found the same mark as your bangle on silver St Christophers pendants. They seem to get a better price than others similar.

Personally, I wouldn't use 'sponsor's mark' (the correct term but seldom used), it wasn't assayed, so it would likely only be confusing - it's simply a retailer's mark. Personally, would just say retailed by Georg Jensen, or avoid claiming it as Jensen design - there are also a lot of rather ordinary mid 20th century and later pieces bearing Tiffany or Cartier marks that were produced for them by manufacturers who often sold the same designs bearing their own trademark - certain names add a cachet that increases value for many people...
