Featured gemstone, glass or plastic?

thanx for fun discussion, they had me crazy googling! so much to learn

after all the interest on the first ring, i had a closer look at the mark on the ring. found my dad's magnifying glass. the Y looking mark is actually 2 chinese characters and the one next to it, 18K, i think. the other one, cannot make out anything at all

still have no idea what the red stone/glass is, but i found out that synthetic gemstones made by flame fusion would have circular lines. i probably need to go to the jewellery shop. never stepped into a jewellery shop since mum stopped going in the 1970s!!

i have this feeling that what i really need is a teleportation machine. we could pass the pieces around for detailed inspection?

 

Find a good jeweler to take it to, not a mall store!!!!!!!

 

just wondering what the value would be if that red stone/glass ring turned out to be a real ruby. any guesstimates?

 

It doesn't look like a ruby to me.
And I think a real ruby of that size would be set in a top quality ring. Yours is very nice, I'd love to have it, but it is not top quality.
I think the stone is good quality synthetic. Which is better and more valuable than glass.

 

i found someone trustworthy to take a look at it but she is more of a gold person, not gems. said she will ask her sister-in-law who works with gems, not expert but should have know-how? will post update
