I wonder how much & where Newcomb sold for when new ? Top drawer Roadshow find-congrats !
I love A&C,but you must have a quite broad knowledge of antiques.Newcomb's beautiful stuff, but not flashy by any means.
Were you a professional dealer or inspired amateur ?
I've sold abt 600 pieces online, but am by no means an expert in any one field.

Somewhere in between. I sold jewelry semi-pro, but the rest is watching Roadshow, watching a Youtube channel or two, and hanging out with this lot a little too long! I don't always know what I'm looking at, but I'll know I'm looking at "something".

You and others here seem to have a good knowledge of stones & quality settings. The forum, along w/ a touch of news & history's a good eye opener to wake up with-moves my brain.
Of course it also makes me want to run-off & treasure hunt, and though my lady has an extraordinary amount of patience, enough can be enough.
It's almost supernatural how much knowledge's here- AJ w/ expertise on SE Asian art & culture,Bronwen-Cameos & mythology.I think they both ought to be museum consultants.

It is a very happy marriage, two different designs. So not a set and not a parure, because they weren't made to go together.
I would happily wear them together though, and most people wouldn't notice the difference.

Haha absolutely! Thank you, that's very kind.

Its my birthstone too! When I first heard of it as a child I mistook it for Granite and always hated the idea, I now realize that's not the case. :hilarious:

Thanks so much Bosko! I've been very lucky with my recent finds, they seem to be popping up everywhere this summer! I think our UK members could tell you more about the carboot prices than I could honestly, I'm in France and though I've been to charity shops in the uk I've sadly never crossed a car boot's threshold! I have heard some craaazzy prices in the US though, I know of one vintage reseller in Oregon who easily gets 80 bucks for her flips. I lived for a while in Mississippi but again my experience down there was garage sales when I was 5, so I'm not sure what the market was or is like. I would definitely agree you're going to find the best offline bang for your buck at vide greniers/carboots. I live in a rural area of mostly sheep/cow/crop farmers in small villages so its generally a smaller budget sale type place. There are an increasing number of dealers though (though still mostly small-medium range, more than 5 less than 20 kinda deal), and there's always at least 2 older ladies who's starting price is 8+ for their jewelry! :hilarious:

I do enjoy a summer afternoon in the garden watching Roadshow on youtube, and I'm always browsing the forum, but are there any good youtubers I should check out?

You know my family was wondering about that, the stones are cut different and the style wasn't an exact match, but the hare mark is also on the earrings so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the confirmation!

:hilarious::hilarious: I considered myself to be quite unlucky to be born with kitchen counter tops, rather than opals, amnethyst, or emeralds like the rest of my family :hilarious:

    How dare they! :hilarious:

Rachel Re YouTube-There's a Brit whose family's renovating a chateau. He (a son) spends most of his time couch-surfing and prowling brocantes. His pal buys, but i think he's rather broke.
There's so many shows re Brits restoring old French properties, can't nail it down yet.I'll dig it up for you.
