Here is a Roux label, I notice he imported as well and I assume most of them did, including Belter, Herter & others.
Is there any secondary wood I wonder?

James is right. Hal Hunt is a big name in Victorian furniture, but all he had were a series of photos and my verbal description. Better to have Hunt “in the house,” but with an expert like him I will not argue; I’ll take a win with Roux!

@bercrystal my new avatar is German-Austrian cabinet maker Michael Thonet (pronounced Toe-Net, not Thoe-nay). He is the granddaddy of bentwood furniture, much like Belter. Thonet invented the No. 14 chair, the “ice cream” chair with the round stitch-canes seat and bentwood frame. To date it’s sold over 50 million units; I’m happy to say we have 4 of the 1850s originals. You can still buy a newer version.
Anyway, I like to use photos of these cabinet makers from the 19th century when I can find them.
