[QUOTE="Ladybranch, post: 10921, member: 44"]I haven't a clue as to the maker. I have found a couple of French makers' marks with 2 Fs, but none like this one. I think it is a tomahawk between the Fs. Orrr maybe that hammer that hit the windshield of a car driving on I-95 yesterday!!!

http://www.wpbf.com/news/south-florida/palm-beach-county-news/hammer-slams-into-windshield-of-stephanie-solinskis-car/20295786#!bs2pnA

I did find on WorthPoint a sterling silver vermeil wash French made monstrance that the seller said was marked with a Minerva head and 2 Fs with a symbol between. I couldn't see the mark in any of the posted pictures. As they seem not to know what the "symbol" was, there is a possibility the mark is like yours???

To show my ignorance, I didn't know what was a monstance. According to an online dictionary it is a Roman Catholic name for a "receptacle in which the host is held. Also called ostensorium." Nowwww, if we knew your FF was the same as on the monstance, one might presume your bowl was for religious purposes also. Here is the monstance:

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-french-950-sterling-silver-vermeil

Here is another vermeil silver monstance that the seller says has the French Minerva head with no description of the maker's mark only saying " silversmith’s marks in different parts." I can see the Minerva head in one of the pictures, but can't see the maker's mark. Anyways, the monstances look very similar. They both are said to have a motif of "grapes and wheat."

http://www.rubylane.com/item/1251216-AR-A-526/Huge-French-Solid-Silver-Monstrance-83

Possibly someone can spot the maker's mark in either monstance's pictures.
