Thanks Tanya, definitely the same maker and design model - the small variations just come from the hand painting. (BTW If you have time to share, I'd love to know the process you used to find that - I did a reverse image search on both plates and nothing!)

It's just a shame the seller is in about the same situation as I am knowledge-wise ;)

I just did an image search. I’m not sure why it didn’t come up for you. Maybe recently listed?

So the picture is starting to form...looks like Malicorne!

i wrote to a Quimper expert yesterday (see oldquimper.com if anyone wants more information and access to a very good book on the subject!) and she came back with this reply:

"They are not Quimper...they are Malicorne. Malicorne is a town in the Sarthe...near Le Mans.

The giveaways are the color of the exposed clay, the colors and condition of the glazes, the motifs and the form.

Malicorne is not Quimper, but it has a charm all its own and is just about equally as popular of a pottery to collect."

After that I googled the pottery and found that Malicorne are still producing, and have a plate design very similar to the floral one (Antique Fleurs 88).

And then we also have the less-definitive attribution of the same plate from the eBay seller.

So given the weight of evidence it would seem to confirm an ID of Malicorne and I'm going to state it confidently in my listing. Still not sure how old they are though...I have asked the expert for clarification on that and will update if I get a reply.

Thanks so much for your interest and help :) :) :) I really appreciate it!
