The scroll thing was quite hip in the later empire revival, but I have seen french empire cabinets dating early 19th century that already had them, the feet seem quite french too(although many dutch empire cabinets have those too) as is the unusual drawer construction, vertical dovetails?  Very interesting wood pattern on the back too. I bought this from a guy that lives near the german border who had no idea of its origins or age, but I know it is old, it feels, smells and looks it.
