Alabaster was used a lot in Egypt, so why not in Libya.
But are you sure about the pitting? I have never seen it on alabaster, not even of that period.

It has about the same composition as limestone, and limestone will do that at a sour look, so I'd say it's possible. It would take a real expert looking at it in person to be sure, but I wouldn't rule it out.

The pits look like bubbles in the casting. The chip looks like resin.

That's what I thought. I see a lot of 'antique' resin keris hilts, they all have those bubbles and chips. But I didn't want to be definite before I knew the size of the statue. If those are bubbles from resin casting, it would have to be a very small statue.
The fingers don't look carved, but molded.
What is your opinion on the 'growth' on the inside of his left ankle?

I don't have much knowledge about antiques in general, I'll get it measured for you, but to give you a rough estimate it's length is around my forearm.

so what's the call on this one? an old replica?

How about a photo of the underside of the base? That is often revealing if an item is cast.
I'm not sure about the material; the little holes certainly suggest a cast item....but there are so many, that they make me wonder if it was just some kind of stone that was full of holes.
Bone often has holes; but this doesn't really look like bone to me, and is rather large to be bone.
    So I'm sort of mystified.

We have an old bottle dump out back of our house from the late 1800s-early 1900s. My brother-in-law, as a kid, dug deep holes and threw in bottles and cans from the 50s & 60s. You never know what people will bury or why
