Found a couple of very sheer dresses with heavy gold fringed hems

    I had a great 19th dress form that would of loved to wear that. As for the gold... Never know where you might find it? I'd do a scratch test. First. It definitely looks like they are not tarnishing.

    Just digging up this old thread to say that I put the dress in an auction and it sold today, comfortably beating its estimate of 50 to 80 pounds.

    Hammer price was £230.

    It was a specialist sale for 20th C design, which may have helped. Very gratifying anyway and I don't begrudge the auction commission when the result in my pocket will be several times the most I would have asked for it at a fair.

    They look SO "flappers - night on the town" to me!!! Offer them to a theater company or a Vintage Clothing Shop!

    Taking some of the Hoard stuff to auction prompted me to add this item to the pile, and luckily there was a specialist auction coming up. More of the Hoasd items are in an auction on November 14th.

    I suppose if you had invited every 3rd girl that walked by, that would have avoided the random aspect. Though perhaps not enough to gain sympathy :)
