Yes, I saw that too! It would be good to research further.
    On Argentinian Pepe López.

I am not sure which currency they use in that label though. Pesos, for example, have the same sign of $

The OPs is a class project. Two different signatures.

I guess I am referring to the mixed media altar piece.

I've actually not really considered the other pieces that much...I just really enjoy 3D Mixed Media Collage.
But, also, if he was born in 1966? In 1974 he would be 8 yrs old. It is feasible.

See the handwriting behind of the diptych work from 2002.
Artists can change their signatures with time

Maybe someone cleaned out the family home and donated it?:joyful:

It appears the rest of my text got deleted. What I said was that if two other two pieces are from 1974 and he was born in 1966...I would think it was totally feasible.

Then I pondered the first statement, I wondered if someone donated all his student artwork...because it couldn't fit on the frig, anyway.

His 1973 work is very much in line with what other artists of Latin America were doing that time. I think he was adult, and working across the tendencies of the time.

In contemporary art, disliking something usually doesn't mean it has no value.
This is not the Venezuelan artist, probably, Argentinean, but his work is not student work (unless, he was an "eternal" student from 1973 to 2002).

I'm with Debora on this one. Done by a high-school student living in Miami, not related to either of the artists mentioned here. As she notes, it is a common name. So unless you can show one of those artists living and working in Miami in that time period, or have some other link (like documented signature), I don't see any relation whatsoever.

Just as an example, below is a piece made by one of my daughters while a high school student in the 2000's. Her teacher was the cool one that everyone in her school wanted to have - he had the pupils explore many different mediums and left them free to learn. This was inspired by some artist I don't know the name of who did similar work in the 20th century - maybe Debora knows his name? Anyway, they went on a field trip to a thrift store to gather materials (!), then came back to the studio to put them together. (Finished at home - I helped with cutting the glass so it would fit).

I think no specialist in handwriting is needed to see it's the same hand

I posted a link in the beginning. It is a (possibily) Argentinean artist who is also older the Venezuelan Pepe López.

It's getting bizarre. I think I'll stop watching this thread. Other options are to trash this work or to search for an artist who lived all his life in Miami and is also a high-school student. Proof of similarity is the work of a high-schooler above (with a duck), so this is a reason good enough for identification.
That's how much of alternative and countercultural art ends up, unfortunately.

Could you find a store or link or anything in the invaluable listing that I could send an email with pics to him?
I remember with a Audrey frank painting I found & sent a photo to her that it turned out to be her + she sent me a coa for it.
