First, Thank you all for responding at all. You don't know how nervous I've been, doubting myself. I kept telling myself, it's real, but if its not, I'm chopped meat. a dozen? LOL. If I unravelled the whole thing, I'd pay more than 12 for the yarn. I actually meant to add at the outset "appraisal worthy? after some needed attention of course." That's where I'm at too. Probably best to stabilize and be good with it. Keeping it anyway, IF I CAN FIND A WALL LARGE ENOUGH... ah, the dilemma. Eye dazzler - actually did not think of that - they're one of my favs, so this one didn't dazzle like the really good ones do... But there is that look and clearly the overall pattern is similar. Overall, came to the same conclusions about condition, the pros and cons. As I said, the condition 'speaks to me' anyway, since I get the impression from closer examination it may have been one used as a utilitarian piece... i.e., used, and fixed, and used some more. Some interesting features: there is a weft that was knotted and left exposed around the warps, so a 'good enough for my purposes' when first woven; the colors aren't matched at all, but what I thought was commercial is actually tighter hand woven natural wools. So 'much later' than when first woven, the the sheep colors were matched 'close enough for today' when repaired. Even found what appears to be a lazy line in the banded sections. Anywho. Finally, Thank you again. I was so excited I passed on the photos and used the seller's and just threw it up on this thread.
