Attended the local auction last night. I wasn't going to go since 99% of it was devoted to ready-made collectibles and holiday decorations. Without much else to do, I decided to go down for the preview since they did have a stacking barrister bookcase. There were hundreds of collector plates, Dept. 56, Precious Moments, etc. Once I got to the preview, the was the usual assortment of plates devoted to Norman Rockwell, movies, etc.

I recognized the complete set of 12 of the Beauties of the Red Mansion plates from China. I remembered these as having some value so went back home to check since I only live a few blocks away. I was able to pick up the complete set for $36.00.

The auction moved fast and things were going pretty cheap. I know I could have bought a lot of plates for a buck each or less if I had wanted them. I just don't know a whole lot about most of them.
