Our church sales are already bought out of gold and most sterling before they open the doors by the other sellers..... This is what else I got this week. I had a yearly check-in appointment in Philly this week, so on the way back, there is this antique mall that is open late on Wednesdays. They serve food, even, so what the heck, why not? Haven't found any mistakes there in awhile. So I see this for $5, I almost put it back, but then I noticed the compass was done with Chinese characters So I am thinkin' Chinese export, okay, I can do $5. I researched these online and the listing info is all over the place- Qing Dynasty, late 1800s, early 1900s, Feng Sui ring, etc. I think this is silver-plated, not sure. Then, while I am chowing down on spaghetti and broccoli and salad (they even have wine there, I passed), I see this in a case I know they aren't Monet earrings, they are cameo screwbacks, I saw some writing, I figure GF, so I grab them. When I loupe them in the car, they are 10k...and they were not even the price on the card. Then the lady who sold me the garnet ring had this necklace and she told me it was bone. I knew it was angelskin coral, and I thought the clasp looked like gold (I try not to loupe in front of people at the shows), and it is 14k. This was sold as costume, silver and akoya pearl brooch This was in 50 cent bin, I like these old glass rings that were made to, at one time, look like the real deal This was a whopping $5, sterling and a lab ruby and I got a few more things, but that is for later.
