cxgirl, OMG- I had a tall wooden lamp from I guess the 30s or 40s that had that exact lampshade. I got it from my old landlord....he didn't want it. One day I just got tired of it and sold it for $25 to an antique dealer. He actually asked me if I could do better. I laughed out loud- it had all the working light bulbs and was newly rewired, too. The D&E is gorgeous! Terry, nice find on the silverware!

My 90 year-old uncle is now in a wheelchair and I spent hours with the initial PT eval. All kinds of services will be forthcoming. I haven't been out much.

As far as the yard sales, it is still very cutthroat around here.

I did visit some antique malls and I did find my way to some flea markets on Sat. and Sun. (brought back lots of food for Unc). I got this at an antique mall for $12, less 10%. It was pretty cruddy, but cleaned up nicely. I thought it was glass (it is a Vargas hallmark, 10k GF), but the Presidium gem tester shows aquamarine. I took it outside and in the sunlight, it shows a prism, so I thought it was glass again. I researched aquamarines, and some show a rainbow prism. There is also a water test you can do to see if it is aquamarine- put a drop of water on the surface and if it beads up, pretty likely it is aquamarine (if it runs off, probably quartz.) I love my jewelry!
