we're nothing , if not pesky ...!!

 

Funnily enough, I sold one of those Deutsche Mutter crosses a couple of months ago. Friend of mine found it in his shed - along with a whole bunch of sovs!

 

I'm trying to remember what it sold for. Wasn't in great condition, but I think it got twenty quid, in with another Hitler era badge.

 

Just don't leave them out in the open. There have been several major news stories in the past several years here in the states about visitors to homes digging around, finding such items, and then going to the news media with claims of bigotry/racism of the homeowner. Lots of people take sides and pile on in the community and innocent people end up in the middle of a lot of very public scrutiny.

Was at an auction recently with such items and had a hard time not silently "labeling" people bidding on Nazi items. One of the guys fit the profile with shaved head.

 

@Lucille.b, is your "Brumm" the same as my "Brumm", I wonder??? These, plus 1 more......were my Mom's so I'm not sure of the age, but I'm thinking somewhere in the 80's maybe??? There's no date on them......

 

If you are lucky, you can.
I see them (swas!)popping up every now and then...on eBay.
You can also use catawiki, they have specialized sales, allowing stuff with swastika's, as long as you cover them on your pictures...

 

@Aquitaine Yes!! Same artist! Norman Brumm. (Once again, love your mom's taste.) These are classic Brumm. If I saw them on a shelf in a store I would know he was the artist without turning them over. They all have a certain look, the quality and the classic enamel leaves, flowers on driftwood-like wood.

1970s plus or minus would be a guess for dating.

There are some spectacular versions with birds. If you google "Brumm enamel" you'll see what I mean.

Although the market is down a tiny bit for his work (compared to 10 or so years ago,) still very collectible. Thanks for sharing!

 

Also check that EK II properly (measurements, makers marks)! They can go from 50 to 500 euro.

 

It's not about real or fake. It about finding the rare one.
Average EK II's go for 50 to 100, but then you got the Ubergrosse (they are bigger or smaller) or the Schinkel's, the round "3" etc...
At first sight they all look the same but there is a difference in value.
I had to tag mine, for my wife. If I die tomorrow, she can't make the difference...

 

A physical auction house seems the best to me too.
When specialized in it, they should be able to tell you.

A surprising find last Sunday at a small local market. The guy I got it from said it came out of a church. Heavy. Iron and brass. Measures 35 inches wide and 32 inches tall. Must have been real impressive when new.

I wish I met such people...recently saw an Allach porcelain figurine on auction which unlike crosses for mothers have an in fact distasteful history (SS-manufactory with concentration camp inmates used in their production), I actually have some Hutschenreuthers from that era and I usually don't get political with antiques but it's not something I'd put into a vitrine

Two quick purchases from last week. Kind of has a steampunk look together. Vintage GE school clock and Restoration Hardware crow.

 

i found this cast ceramic statue "The Vaquero" at the thrift store for $10 , little damage on the saddle horn (nothing i can't fix ) don't have anything but a foundry mark anyone recognize it ? I'm sure i have seen it before .
