After spending the last three weeks lamenting the auction loss of another Turriet und Bardach buckle, I picked up this more ornate one for even less than the first.

 

On the topic of cardigan clips, I picked up a pair of WMF silver-plated ones today for 1.5 euros. The old man who sold them to me made a point of explaining that they were, in fact, erotic nipple clips (My German might not be great, but I do know what BDSM and erotisch mean), mimed putting them on his nipples (several times), proceeded to show them off to his neighboring vendor. All I could do was stand there, struck with absolute mortification, racking my brain for the correct word for sweater (which, unfortunately, I didn't remember).

On another note, love the bracelet find!

 

Oh lord, I love that! I've just realised that my clips were three dollars, not five.

 

That's a lesson we all learn at some point !!!!!

I am totally in love with that red hippo! The song 'I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" won't stop going around in my head now.

I had a very good Saturday last week, behind on my pictures. Went to two church sales, the second in a very rich shore town. The second was the prize.... and a strange one..... all the necklaces were $5. All the earrings were $2. All the bracelets were $3, and all the pins were $1. Well, this lady was in front of me blocking most of it, but what happened was church members kept coming by and dropping off jewelry for then next hour, so I got some nice 14k items and sterling and costume. Sets (necklaces and earrings were $6.)

Yesterday was a drive south to yard sale an visit a few barn sales. Not too much, but enough. Will post by the end of tomorrow.

Thanks, Marko. It looks like some of the buckles they made were gilt silver, so that's what I'm hoping this one turns out to be.

 

Badges,6 for 2 euros. 2.25 inches across. Not worth much, but interesting.

 

I have to add, these were really cheap badges in 1980.

Some things from recent weekends. Last weekend church sale #1. Sterling Saart Brothers mirror and brush set, mirror is perfect, found in a $2 bag of stuff.

This little purse from the same lady, 50 cents.

 

My rule against buying glassware does not include teapots. Some kind of Staffordshire, end of day yard sale find, $3.

And of course, jewelry, lots of pictures yet to come. Citrine faceted and rough strand, thrift shop, $6.

Found these Thursday and Saturday. The white beads want to be jade, and at least have quartz and garnet decoration. The ceramic beads look better than the average and I'm betting the spacers are gold. The orange flowers are tremblers, and the wizard is a JJ. It's not old, but those fantasy pieces from JJ sell well.

 

Those milifori are gorgeous as are the jade beads. I think the most fun thing I found this weekend was a ton of Barbie things at the end of the day. I just counted 44 short dresses, 12 gowns, 23 tops, 9 shirts, 9 pants, 2 bathing suits, a rain coat, an ice skater outfit, and some clothing for Ken including a tuxedo. I got two Barbies, one is a Christmas one, modern, a Ken, and a Kelly. I also got a full case of shoes, I can't begin to count them, 50-100 pairs, everything for $3. Have you seen the prices of Barbie clothing in Walmart? The stuff is in excellent condition. And every place I go, they grab the Barbie cars first.
