Not much to be bought this weekend.
Silver and Blue John necklace and 40s buckle for £5.

Today's finds for 11 euros. I think the brooch (c-clasp and bar-hinge) is Vauxhall glass glass (the stones seem too big, bright, and reflective for garnets). The eagle pendant is signed FIX, and might be older than I originally thought. That's a fantastic necklace! (and I learned about a new thing by googling Blue John). How old is it, would you say?

 

Not really sure about the age of this one, maybe 1920s? I see Blue John from time to time here in U.K. Years ago I went up to Chatsworth House on a school trip where they had some fantastic ewers made out of it and we also went to the blue John mines. I did find a big rough chunk of it that I posted here ages ago. Think people often assume it’s amethyst.

 

Hard to date Blue John, it's still mined, but that chain looks older.

Nice little cameo in silver filigree bracelet today.

I know these aren’t old hence putting them in here- Are these likely to be good luck type pendants?. The reddish orange one is a lovely tactile piece of stone. Engraved with some script.

 

And the rest of today’s finds-
An anchor brooch, no value , just liked it!
A Stingray ( poor fishy ) and 925 silver bracelet. Thought it was synthetic until I researched.
A lovely double string of pearls with lovely lustre and a 925 clasp and a Marcasite brooch that I thought was unusual due to the cross hatch decoration on the reverse.

 

Those engraved pendants are in Arabic. Dollars to donuts the orange one is the Daylight Sura, part of the Koran. The green one and blue one ... dunno, but they're Arabic. The Prophet is supposed to have had a carnelian ring, and lots of Muslims will wear the stone. I can't read a word. The anchor however is talking back; it's saying it's probably bakelite. If the pinback is held on with rivets or screws, you're probably in the money.

 

I agree, verses from the Qu'ran.

 

@KSW Could that anchor pin be bakelite?

Ooh, see what I know ( not a lot!) I'm so green I just thought it was plastic. I'll have a closer look at the pin in the morning as have retired for the night ( to come on here)
Fortunately I think I'm minorly in the money anyway as the anchor was £1, the 925 bangle 49p, the pearls 50p and the brooch 99p. Big spender eh?.

 

Thankyou, very interesting. It's a lovely big chunk of carnelian if that's what it is.

 

It might be banded orange agate, but they're both in the quartz family. The dark single-color bits get called carnelian. The lighter or stripy stuff gets called orange agate, or that's how I heard it.
