Dawnno, perhaps start a thread on your rug? Not everyone views the 'finds' forum.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

sometimes referred to as a Navajo Eye dazzler .....

    https://charleysnavajorugs.com/transitional-eye-dazzler-navajo-rug-for-sale-1042/

I would not say it's common....but neither is it rare.
The damage & bleeding are bad....from what I can see.....& kick the value down quite a bit from one that's in excellent condition.
The size is good though , bigger than average....so that helps somewhat.
New repairs....old repairs.....no matter...., as long as they are good repairs. Yes authentic native done repairs are better...but not if done poorly !

I wouldn't pay for an appraisal.....I'm not sure in it's condition , it's worth it.
But......the size is still going to bring in several hundred.....maybe 4 figures...maybe.... but I can't see it well enuf to be certain about that !!

    For 12 bucks......I'd have bought a dozen !!!! :playful::playful::playful::playful:

    IMHO......

For $12 I'd have jumped on that too, and I'm allergic to wool! Nice score!

First, Thank you all for responding at all. You don't know how nervous I've been, doubting myself. I kept telling myself, it's real, but if its not, I'm chopped meat.

a dozen? LOL. If I unravelled the whole thing, I'd pay more than 12 for the yarn.

I actually meant to add at the outset "appraisal worthy? after some needed attention of course." That's where I'm at too. Probably best to stabilize and be good with it. Keeping it anyway, IF I CAN FIND A WALL LARGE ENOUGH... ah, the dilemma.

Eye dazzler - actually did not think of that - they're one of my favs, so this one didn't dazzle like the really good ones do... But there is that look and clearly the overall pattern is similar.

Overall, came to the same conclusions about condition, the pros and cons. As I said, the condition 'speaks to me' anyway, since I get the impression from closer examination it may have been one used as a utilitarian piece... i.e., used, and fixed, and used some more. Some interesting features: there is a weft that was knotted and left exposed around the warps, so a 'good enough for my purposes' when first woven; the colors aren't matched at all, but what I thought was commercial is actually tighter hand woven natural wools. So 'much later' than when first woven, the the sheep colors were matched 'close enough for today' when repaired. Even found what appears to be a lazy line in the banded sections. Anywho.

Finally, Thank you again. I was so excited I passed on the photos and used the seller's and just threw it up on this thread.

Isopropyl doesn't fix glass sickness, it camouflages it. Muriatic acid or sanding is the only real fix.

    Beautiful rugs, great $12 find!

These were at the 50 cents jewelry table at my rainy Saturday yard sale.
Art Deco sterling with paste stones, clasp needs repair. I love this bracelet. If I can't repair it, it goes in the curio cabinet so I can see it every day. I am trying not to think what was out the day before and early Saturday.

Again, all 50 cents each, I didn't get too hurt. Chime in if you know anything about any of this. I fell in love with the pitcher.... so beautiful, probably modern. The chintz looking dishes, one had a cracked handle and was glued, but they match my decor so well.... pink guest room, pink and lavendar bathroom... I am posting the mark for the lady figurine. And the raspberry dish is kinda sparkly. I think the lady added the brown felt things on the bottom. Let me know if you know what this all is. Thanks.

NickRobin Why buy new when you can fix old.

Well I mean you can find it in a few places. I just get the good sized bottle from the smoke shop because it is right by me.
well it’s hard to see the condition of the glass through a picture without getting a close up. I use warm isopropyl on shot glasses and really old liquor bottles that have sat in dark wet places like buildings with roof problems and barns with flooding issues. Sometimes it is just a matter of keeping it warm, but not hot. It is hard to describe, but I can only be certain that it works for me at least. If your not as used to using this method, then of course try others that may work better for your style of cleaning. There is not just one way to do something.
Here is my find over 10 years collection of shot glasses it has worked on. Along with 1800s hand made crystal.
Hopefully you can see what I mean.

Nice vases. Is it possible there is any artifacts of more writing on both sides of the marking on the bottom? I want to say that these are late 1800s early 1900s Chinese, but it is hard to be certain. I was looking up NIHC for a long time and then saw that it might be upside down in the picture. If there is any cloisonné missing they it is possible that it could have spelled out CHINA. It could be that these two pieces were made for export around the time in which people where bringing back pottery to Europe.
I don’t know I could be completely wrong with this one and just having a blond moment.
Over all you did good. Are you going to use them for plants or decorations?

Various remedies for removing hard water stains/mineral build up have had little if any effect - leaving me to conclude it does have mild to moderate etching/sickness on the lower half of the inside surface. Bleh - it's still a very nice piece - probably worth getting treated/repaired by someone that knows what they're doing. Also hard to get good pics of this thing - especially at night :/ Here's a slightly better one than before.
