Contained only the natural goodness of genuine Turpentine and finest quality Beeswax. There were no man-made additives.

It's hit or miss. This time, pretty much of a miss. I got beanie babies for Operation Christmas child, a little jewelry, and a craft jar of jewelry that seems to be a waste of $10. Got $5 worth of modern wind-up toys also for donation at a tag sale.

So, the donation bin is going to make out fine. I got a few things but nothing to write home about.

I could have gotten up at 5:45 a.m., but I was so tired I went back to bed until 9 a.m. when the husband made coffee and Fangus the cat was meowing at the bedroom door.

It wasn't SUPPOSE to rain.... the over 55 community didn't set up. Most people didn't set up... I stopped at one yard sale and all the jewelry was 50 cents but they had the yard sale yesterday first and they said they sold soooo mannnnny brooches. Imagine that. I will photograph the odds and ends I picked up, no big scores. $15 for all. I then went to the church sale and found out the tonier town had a city-wide yard sale, but I got there 12:30ish. The lady running the jewelry counter was a terror. If I picked up something for 50 cents, she wanted a dollar. I can tell I missed a good vintage sale, but they are having another one in November. I picked up vintage napkins and hand towels for 25 cents each. Will take a photo and post soon.

I had the rain you had as well, but in the garage sale over here I picked up a pair of sterling silver earrings ( can’t find them right now) and she said $1. I pulled out a $10 bill and asked if she had change and she said I could just have them for free. They are nothing special, but the silver will be nice for restoring a few things I have that need hand made silver parts.
When it is a rainy day, try looking for estate sales and moving sales. Anything with a whole house sale will do as they don’t care about the rain as much. Got some 1800s silk lamp shades and one Papier-mâché French oil lamp shade. Also a few more books some being on the controversial topic of the time “The international Jew” “the worlds foremost problem” by Henry Ford.

Picked this up for 10 cents today, at a disappointment of a flea market (all of 10 stalls) that took me 1.5 hours round-trip to get to. At least some good came of it.

Here is the back. Realised it was a door bell when it started tinging as I was walking through the vide grenier.[IMG]

Wonderful doorbell design, I think. Are you going to use it as a doorbell?

I bought a really nice brand new Peter Hahn yellow pure Tasmanian wool cardigan. Three quid to me, over a hundred new. ;)

No, I just like the image. I picked it up thinking it was a box. The stallholder said" 20 centimes" How could I not buy it?

It was a clothes day for me to. Bought a really good winter coat, have to think ahead if it is cheap, for 2euros. Found it would have been about 170-200euros new. The stall was full of clothes, all were 1 or 2 euros. I bought quite a few items. I think someone had died but I am not superstitious.

I'd grab the clothing too, no reason not to, and would have grabbed the plate and ran. The portrait of the miner looks like it was done by a high school art class student and put in a commercial frame. Just makes it better.

I went back to the last day of an estate sale today after church to see if there were any bargains. Should have known better. There was a ton of jewelry left, all overpriced which is why it was still there. Lots of other stuff too. There were only a few hours left of the sale, but they weren't willing to discount much. One ring I did get down from $30 to $8; it had no carat markings, and "the stone is..."said the dealer "...junk" said I. It had been a faux star sapphire, but it was so bashed the star was mostly gone. No idea of the stone under the coating is glass or stone. I'm going to test and hope it's white gold instead of sterling or nothing in particular.

At a certain point you have to know when to put something down and walk away. If it does not look like a good item to you at the price they set then it’s not worth buying. They won’t make a sale and in the end that is their loss. In a lot of instances the seller will see this and be willing to work with you on the price better over the loss of a potential sale. If they don’t do anything then you still win because you save you money for something better in the future. If you can show a pic of the gem in question then we might be able to tell you if it is real or not. Also don’t forget the tests. Hardness, faults, paint, ice, ect.
    Good luck with your tests.

No fears. I was looking at a watch and a necklace, but they weren't budging far enough to make it worth the effort. The ticket prices were 3 to 4x what they ought to have been, which was true of a lot of the jewelry. "We're trying to make money for the family" ... fine, but if it doesn't sell it makes NO money. And if you don't like it when I call something junk, don't sell actual junk.

Did they say "On ebay it goes for..." That's when I just turn and walk away.
