woo hoo Lucille, great score that is very cool in a Roycroft stand

 

Yes, photo above glass was still dusty. Just wanted to get a shot with the price tag for full effect. It cleaned up.

This was on one of many basement tables chocked full of lower end household pieces mostly from 1980s to present. Every table was loaded, and none of it was very interesting, not much selling. A full half hour into the sale and I probably walked by it at least 3 times without seeing it. For some reason on the final pass, it caught my eye but full disclosure, it wasn't an OMG moment. I'm not really versed in Arts and Crafts, but there was an Arts and Crafts bowl upstairs that they were asking $400 for so was just curious at this point since it seemed to be a similar metal to the one upstairs. Turned it over, the mark was too small to see with the naked eye, but heck, it was marked, took a chance at $2.

Now I know what to look for.

 

Roycroft marks, that's what! I look for those too. Never find them, but look for them. That's an "I'll take this place, and not even haggle about the price."

 

I guess I missed the Roycroft part. I thought it was all glass & it didn't look like the Steuben I am use to seeing, so I was totally confused.

I stand by my statement about the "professionals" not knowing eveything.

 

Haven't really found anything valuable lately, but I did buy these nice bits of costume jewelry for 8 euros today. The GF pendant has a tiny bohemian garnet in it. The rings are probably just costume, but I think the weird silver-tone one (which has gold-tone accents) might be silver.

That open-backed necklace is killer too; I'd go over it for silver marks just in case.

 

The clasp is marked sterling, but the bezels are unfortunately just brass.

 

It is still very desirable

Love this, with its ginkgo leaf motif. I can see it on a flapper's sautoir, swinging wildly as she dances the night away.

 

Had a good day today. Bought these for a little under 10 euros. The pendant is marked 800. The (c-clasp + bar-hinge) brooch and B. Co watch are just base metal, but the watch seems to keep time well. The Prussian pendant is part of a veteran's badge and missing its ribbon, but I like it anyway.

 

OOOHHH, that watch is a stunner, very unusual!

 

When I saw it, I knew I had to have it.

 

Odds are the watch band was made in Providence, Rhode Island or North Attleboro, MA; they're on top of each other and both had a fair number of factories making the pierced work bracelets, earrings, pins etc. Never seen a watch before, but then wristwatches were a new thing when that sort of filigree was popular. So... who knows. It may have been exported in someone's suitcase. There can't have been many.

 

Need better lighting and clearer photos of the watch band. It appears to be die struck and probably hundreds made.It also looks like it has had a number of repairs or very poor assembly do to excess solder pools in a number of locations.

 

It has a swiss movement and I purchased it in Germany, so it probably wasn't made in the States.

I'm traveling right now but I'll take pictures when I return. Interesting that you mention solder pools; the reason that I think it's base metal is because it has verdigris on the inside in multiple places. Could the verdigris be from repair work?
