Placing these beads and the recent Bakelite necklace on the finds is to let others see what’s out in the Charity Shops that many staff don’t know about. I find very little silver and gold now as people know a lot about hallmarks and ceramic back stamps on collectible pottery. Anything unmarked is often a bit of a mystery so they often just put it out without researching. I’ve learned lots by being a part of this Antiques Board.

I need to get some photos. I bought a shift knob at a yard sale in the morning, and about two hours later flipped it to an antique store for a sterling bracelet and Deco sterling necklace. I figure the retail on the knob is probably about $50, but I only paid a dollar for it; both of us will make something on the deal. And then there's the other stuff.

Today's haul, minus two pieces of ceramic. Sterling necklace, bracelet and earrings of assorted vintages, and some bitty gold posts too...I hope. The turtle is from Bonaire, grabbed for a cousin in-law who was raised there. One set is 14k for sure. Old pre-zipcode maps (for a friend) and a Maine Central annual report. And... a piece of Persian art, probably from a book. It's hand painted and I'll show the back to a friend who reads a little Persian. It has some damage, and came in a nasty junk frame. The frame is going away ASAP.

Bought these Friday on basis of auction photo and looking forward to picking them up tomorrow.

I think the book to the right is a manual or technical specification for a 1926 Jupiter engine from Bristol Aeroplane Company

The thick file at the base is the chief engineer's from 1934-41!!

Pivotal period, and Roy Fedden was later knighted.

    Check him out on Wiki!

Found this beautiful Art Deco 'sunflower' three-light hanging fixture. It's about 14.5" diameter. Has a cream and brass canopy that is not pictured.

I'll say! I went out early and got... quilting fabric. Really exciting. It looks like you found coins, pipes, a crucifix, something from a South African university, and a really cool Deco Exit sign. Looks like a bank and a biscuit barrel too.

Thanks. The biscuit barrel, is in fact a old coal pot; they attempt to fetch high prices.
The bank; is a keeper, they used to stand in shops in order to collect money for missions in Belgian Congo. I am collecting them.

The movie bombed, but I didn't think it was a bad telling of the story, though only the first half was covered. The movie did so badly, there was no hope for producing the second half.

I'm betting the movie posters will fetch a nice price, precisely because the film bombed. There won't be as many around.

Very cool; the US likes to think of itself as the home of cast iron banks, but we never had any in this style.
