Had no idea it was a copy of anything.

What is the signature on yours?

 

It looks like Nand S Luim 116. your frame is beautiful!

 

"A young Mother", Maud Stumm (1866-1935), Nantucket.

Stumm was the better painter.

I was tripping over goodies this past weekend....here are my most favorites.

I have been looking for a vintage pink clothes hamper (I have an older one from teh 80s now), and I finally found it- this is listed on ebay in blue for $100. Mine was $10, from a four-story house packed with oldies. The top is pearlized lucite.


From the same house (that had loads of jewelry, I got there an hour after it started on Friday and half the stuff in the entire house was already gone) come these vintage circa 1960s 100% cotton percale sheets, a dollar each. I search for the older sheets because they are cool and crisp. These actually crinkle when you hold them they are so divine. From W. T. Grant, USA made.

From the same material, these embroidered pillowcases were $3 a pair. Everything washed up great with Oxyclean and a bit of bleach.

The house was amazing. I will have to post a few good jewelry finds from the first day.... the jewelry was separated into lots of $14 each, $8 each, $4 each, and $1 each.

After the sale on Friday (I went both days), I hit a few thrifts. I almost fell over when I saw this bracelet for $8 in a thrift shop. The lady said she looped it and it wasn't sterling, only made in Mexico. I did loupe it right there and agreed with her, but didn't tell her it was marked "terlin" because part of the sterling rubbed off, and also marked Lido. 1940s Taxco.


The lady told me she does pricing for another thrifts shop, a new one on my list, so I drove over there and picked this up for $12. Modernist? rock crystal sterling ring.


I have to photograph more finds from the two days.... there was some gold sold as costume in a few places and some great costume pieces.

 

Such a fascinating thread. Here's my best thrift shop find EVER. Winter 2018 Alexander McQueen bomber jacket unworn for under $9.00. Retail was $1,400. Just happened to be going to b-day party in London and wrapped it up for host. (He liked it.)

Marko, I always hit the linen closet at sales and buy the NOS sheets, pillowcases and sell them. They are so easy to list and ship... no chance of breaking in transit.

I had that same hamper many years ago (my parents had it actually) in our pink and black bathroom in the 1960's.

Looks like many here are finding treasures.

I always buy the cheap used linens. The animal rescue shelters always have need for them. As well as small bathroom rugs.

Usually the linens go, but I got the sheets and pillowcases on the second day, which was 50% off, then the final hours went to 75% off. I am going through the $10 box of junk jewelry and will have to photograph what I found that would sell on Ebay for good money. I always buy vintage doilies I can use, sheets, blankets, linen tablecloths and napkins, aprons, towels, and dish towels for the kitchen. The dish towels have great designs and are nice and thick.

 

I love all Alexander McQueen. I hope one day to just have one of his scarves....when I was in Nordstroms in San Francisco, I fell in love with them, but they were way out of my budget.

 

I had a feeling the ring was rock crystal, too, and was blown away by the prices on Ebay for them. There is a hallmark in there I can't identify, will have to photograph it and post it on the jewelry board.

 

Some lamps and shades from my parents collection. The blue glass lamp is an all original Steuben, the white one no idea but my mom assures me it's all original. Both purchased a long, long time ago in upper state New York. One of my parents favorite places to go antiquing. The pictures (especially my photography skills) don't give the red and green shades any justice. They're absolutely stunning, original shades. I found the little blue oil lamp in a box in my parents basement. The stem had completely broken off, I cleaned it up and glued it back together. Other than that, nice little lamp. There's SO much stuff to go through, some auction houses and appraisers have responded to my inquiries, but I may soon may end up with a larger storage locker! LOL! Also found the trench knife my grandpa carried in WWI.

 

And then there's this incredible pocket watch. It's been dated pre 1880 and is just beautiful! I need to get better picture taking skills! Haha!

I knew this was here somewhere! It's actually a pale yellow, and has marks on the back and the side. Baccarat. Bought it last month and put it somewhere "safe" - so safe I couldn't find it either.
