I think everyone here will give you a pass on this one. ;):oops::oops:

Hell, it's not like any of us hasn't over paid for something just to find out it was not legit or got it home to discover there was damage that made it virtually worthless. :p:p:p:p

Terry, I worked in Atlantic City casino and my boyfriend at the time did, too. He was scammed and bought what he thought was a gold watch. It was gold-plated. Don't feel bad, we are all human and everyone of us has made mistakes (I'm still making them.)

Johnny, that teapot is from Carrigaline, County Cork (in the Republic of Ireland.) The Republic is basically the 5/6ths of Ireland that isn't Northern Ireland...

Carrigaline Pottery was founded in 1928, and "for much of middle of the 20th century the pottery was the main source of employment in Carrigaline." (Wiki)

The company apparently hit the skids in the 1970's, and it went out of business in 1979.

Here's one of their teapots on eBay:

I had never even HEARD of Belleek until I received 3 pieces of the shamrock stuff as wedding gifts in 1978. (I'm 1/4 Irish and DH is 1/2 Irish, so folks must have thought it quite appropriate!) I have had a soft spot for it ever since.

Sadly, marketing and over-abundant production of "popular" Belleek patterns (TONS of shamrocks!) has hurt the pricing significantly, even for the older stuff. I have an entire glass-fronted display cabinet FULL of OLD Belleek (no shamrocks) as well as quite a bit of the shamrock stuff scattered elsewhere around the house. I wouldn't even THINK of selling it at the prices it goes for right now.

    Maybe someday...

Either way, as I mentioned, I have a real soft spot for it!

The "fairy" on your glasses looks an awful lot like the "White Rock" soda logo.

Back when I was in grade school, the town park had a "costume contest" one year and Mom whipped me up a "White Rock girl" costume (much more modest than the one on the cans and bottles.)

Another good scam is fake designer handbags. People will shell out even if they know it's fake, if it's made well enough. I have a "Louis Vuitton" bag sitting here that has the wrong color stitching; otherwise it really feels good. Suede lining and all.

    Johnny,
This tile is on pick Click. It states Chinese zodiac tile, year of the rat. It seems to have the same sig. as yours.
Maybe yours is year of the bull/ox.

From a book(let) entitled A B C which I found this past weekend at an estate sale. No date but I believe it to be from the "Great Depression" era. It is a small "advertising" coloring book(let) (paperback) put out (distributed) by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

It measures 5-1/4" by 7-1/4 inches with each page having a drawing for a child to color (7 pages not counting front/back covers).

Here is a sampling of the "questions for parents" on the inside front cover:
"Does your child get proper rest? This means going to bed early every night and sleeping with the windows open . . . up to ten years, he should be in bed at 7 o'clock in the winter and 8 o'clock in the summer" and "Does he have at least two cleansing baths a week?"
