    My "find" . . . a book, of course. ;)

Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book (copyright 1923 by the Roycrofters), hardcover, 228 numbered pages not including indices (and in very small type).

The poem "April Rain" by Robert Loveman is included in the book. I'm guessing you will recognize at least the last two lines of the fourth stanza of the poem:

    "A health unto the happy,
A fig for him who frets!
It is not raining rain to me,
    It's raining violets."

Crud. What I thought said Sterling says Italy. The name is EALES 1779. Replacements says it's a silverplate brand. There goes that $200 dream. Yet another losing ticket. There must be a sterling one of these out there somewhere, but this is ...brass... just tested it.

Brad, have you thought of trying to sell the tables at a higher price on Craig's List?

Craig'slist is a quagmire of bottom feeders here. I will do better on facebook marketplace and I sometimes list store items there. Should they not sell in a reasonable amount of time, I will probably list them on ebay for more and offer pick-up or delivery in a 100 Mi. radius for a fee. just did not want to go through the hassle of doing so.

Sure looks like it! I see a prayer book, a mezuzah cover (the scroll being the actual mezuzah), a hamsa, and what's probably the Aaronic Blessing. Those metal cover prayer books were often bar mitzvah/bat mitzvah gifts.

    Very nice everyone.
To the question about have I ever turned over a salt shaker at a thrift and salt came out???
No, but many times at an estate sale or yard sale this has happened. I buy them anyway if they have condiments in them as long as the shaker(s) can be sold.

So I'm playing at a slot machine last night and this guy leans down and says something into my deaf ear. At first I thought he looked Hispanic but he was speaking more middle eastern. Says he lost a lot of money playing in high limit and wants to sell his 18K for some money to play more.

In the dim light it looks like white gold. Pretty chunky. He starts asking $200, then comes down to $100. I pass. He adds in this 14K bracelet.

Now he's at $200 for both. He shows me pics on his phone of him and his Rolls, him at his palace, blah blah blah.

I think I might have overpaid for this gold colored stainless steel.

I had a magnet on my keyring, like I always do, but I didn't think of using it.

It likes magnets, eh? I have a couple of bare brass rings with 14k markings, fortunately bought as such. I'd keep those over my desk. Whoever this guy is, that sounds like a really good scam. Hit the mark up for cash, no paper trail, and out the door with the take. Mark doesn't find out he's been scammed for hours if at all.
