I never get to post finds  BUT just did research on this find from a few years ago. Only recently able to read the siggie..

    6x8 stone (slate?) 1/2"thick

Rodney Marshall Winfield etched/carved scene. Signed and dated 1970 edition 10/175. Knowing me..got it at a thrift store and probably paid under $10.
Winfield worked in different mediums and was a painter, sculpture and jeweler. Was a designer for Emil Frei stained glass studios.

Untitled-TrueColor-05.jpg I had a Winfield in glass a couple years ago. Ended up selling to Winfield Gallery - cheaply.

I was going to list this, but realized it felt heavy for its size. OK, gold-plated sterling but let's test it, says I. It scratch tests like 18k but doesn't have a single mark. I'm having it professionally tested tomorrow at the local pawn.

The second shot is part of today's haul. I normally don't find a ton in the local charity thrifts, but this includes a reverse-carved lucite necklace, a Mikal Golan piece, a modern cameo in 14k setting (paid under $5 for it!), an enamel fox, and some 14k and pearl earrings. My favorite is the fox.

In the third shot - a sterling collar bought for less than the silver weight, two pair 14k and pearl earrings ($5 each), a Corocraft Sterling birdie, a mechanical pencil, an MMA museum souvenir fern pin, and what I hope is a high karat and precious pink topaz stick pin. It may originally have been an earring. DSCF9471.JPG DSCF8974.JPG DSCF9470.JPG

Your dagger is a typically UAE design and not all their gold is marked. It might even be 22ct.

This was in a bag at the thrift store for about ten bucks

No gel in it. $15 a tube. Supposed to be good for 100-200 tests. I ordered one.

Missing 'clipboard' but a simple alligator clamp works.

Still not working. Check the probe and no continuity. Apparently the gel eats up the insides of it. Ordered a used one on feebay for $30.

Found some 14 in the scrap 10. The mess of Jostens scraps were 9.5K, thus not legally markable. Some dental over 18.

    And it does platinum too!

I love the glass, aaron. Evelyb, I love the fox, too. The dagger seems to be the jackpot.

I went to look for the necklace for the turquoise cross, didn't find the dealer, but found a fun antiques flea market...too bad it is 90 minutes away. Mostly antique dealers, but some regular people mixed in. I had a stomach bug, so I got there late by flea market standards, 9:30 a.m. No great shakes. Then I browsed the antique shops a few mile down, hilarious, the astronomical prices. And I was treated shabbily in one of them.... I hate when people look you up and down from head to toe. I did it back. This was Lambertville, NJ.

Is the 9.5K marked 10K? If the pieces were made before 1976, 9.5K could be marked 10K and a content of 12.5K could be marked 14K.

These were not marked at all. But they weren't finished pieces either. From around 1930. I hadn't known Jostens went back that far until I ran across these.
