My first post in this thread. Nearly 800 pages of posts! amazing achievement @verybrad and everyone here.

I found these on my first car boot sale attendance in years! (If your American and don’t hear the term often, it’s just an English flea market but people set up tables next to there cars. Trunk = boot and all that) It was amazing, surprised how fun it was. Expected that I’d find nothing and that even if I did the seller would be asking for a high price because of it being an easy spot. But no, was the exact opposite. Found a WW1 trench art ashtray and a Victorian small enamel painted decanter.

Also I bought two Minton vases from the first stall me and my dad saw! On a cold wet British day I didn’t take too long to assess them till I got home. There is a horrible amount of damage to both haha and even weirder they aren’t even a pair, I can tell by the paint and the gilding differences now but they are also made decades apart with different date marks, how strange. Love the Celeste blue regardless. A beautiful marriage indeed. :pompous:;)

Ashtray was £1.50, decanter £1 and the vases £3. All damaged but for those prices who cares xD

Whee! That one's not being melted! I haven't even bothered going into Savers in over a year. First the traffic getting there is nasty, mine is in the middle of mall and other shopping center traffic and takes a while to get to, and second they never had anything worth the effort. Anything decent was always priced at twice what it was worth. My local Ill Will isn't always that much better, but at least it's local.

This is what I found today, besides 80% off soap in the grocery store. One pair is marked N.E From and 925 Denmark; they're amber and sterling. The other pair have a weird mark, and I waited until they went down to half price to buy them. They're sterling and synthetic opal, but the mark was ringing bells.

Anund, I suspect that tray was got at by the Victorians, but it's still an almighty find, to say the least.

johnny, I cook tagines - lamb with apricots and harissa, mostly. Never met a sheep I wouldn't eat.

Totally agree, clobbered as you say over there. Just figured out the maker is Elizabeth Jones, which helps with the value a bit. ;)

And a female smith ought to goose the start value a bit. No clue what being good and clobbered will do to it - could go either way. I suspect the people pricing thought it was one of those 1960s wedding gift silverplate trays; they're often elaborately decorated and the marks might look like the ones post-War American companies used to look like silver.

Engraving of racehorse Lord Lyon, 1886 from original painting by Harry Hall. 21x25 inches. I liked the car playing on the blanket too. £3 from CS. D784CB5C-949E-418A-9AFC-C39AA567C2BD.jpeg

Any tips on what I should be looking for that are easily indentifiable?
