If it says 925 it's silver, not gold.

 

The acid says it's gold. They need a new translator.


Of course, they put 925 on plastic and steel too.

 

The pottery vase looks interesting,but I have never seen a Mexican piece with a Celtic zoomorphic " cross".

 

Yeah,I found that out after I posted it.

 

I don't know nothin' 'bout glass but I was browsing at my local Salvation Army and could tell this stuff was old. Got on my smart phone and it didn't take long to realize… woo-hoo!!! A whole bunch of ruby red American Sweetheart dishes by MacBeth-Evans, circa 1930-1936. There's one 12 inch plate, 14 8 inch plates, one creamer, 7 sherbets (which don't have the impressed pattern), 12 cups and 12 saucers. Doin' the happy dance!

 

More heavy glass...two Robert Hamon aventurine paperweights at the thrift today.

 

I went out to the Ill Will today, head cold or no head cold, and manged to feel a bit better walking around. They had a new jar in the case. Should I or shouldn't I ...OKFINE. I got it home hoping to find the second of a pair of vintage Navajo earrings; the first one was visible. No dice. However, much to my surprise the pin I thought would be vermeil or gold-filled is solid 10k. And that rhinestone pin in the top turned out to be a vintage Alfred Philippe for Trifari fleur de lys with only one tiny dark stone. There was some other stuff too, but nothing that spectacular.

 

925 indicate rather silver than 14K gold which is 585
For 50 cents anyway it is a find

 

It may be heavy plating, terry. That shows gold to acid.

 

I bought this for $2 last night. I have it posted in the art forum asking for info.

Called a Ranger Buckle, and sold that way...so you provide your own belt.
Any marks...for maker....silver...or gold inlay ???

 

I've seen silver ones like that come out of Texas; Texas guys will spend big on a nice belt or buckle to this day. Your set looks like an old one.

The earrings, btw, are vermeil - a heavy layer of gold over sterling.

Money being worth money, at least some of it. I'll bet you could get a few million in Zimbabwean currency for those. Not that you'd want it, unless you're wallpapering the bathroom.
