    @KOT
    Did you ever, probably not, ride any of the bus lines that went under a hotel and was turned by hand on the rotating platform?
    :)

    Some are, mostly medals. The bigger ones contains medal groupings to one person or family. The lighter cabinet contains buttons.
    Every draw looks like this, with all different buttons....

    KOT, I went to Gimbels too, the one in Valley Stream many years ago when I was a kid. It was on the boarder of Queens and Nassau County. The mall is still there, but it is not what it used to be at all.

    I road the bus lines and subways quite a bit when I lived in Brooklyn, but not the kind you mentioned. Would love you to share your pics.

    Picked up this hazel Atlas (?) set,8 bowls plus the serving bowl AND the original serving spoons for $5! Half off at an estate sale! It was literally coated in an inch of greasy dust,wich is why I think no one bit. Vase was from the same sale for $2.50. Probably Chinese,but so pretty.The painting just appealed to me,though the good Lord knows I dont have an inch of wall space! Something very depression era feeling to me.Ive identified the artist,no one of particular note,but I like it.

    I use mine as a wallet when I dress up to go out! It makes a nice impression when you whip it out to pay.Mines just plain silver,if I had that enamel one Id use it all the time.

    What a good idea! But I'd fear it'd be scratched in my handbag with all knick knacks I carry...:shy:
