I used to make and sell earrings using found objects.
Very popular were the ones made of Russian stamps.

I find those once in a while here too. The boxes, not the earrings. They started popping up about 10 years ago, at least here. The pins go back a bit further.

Who are the two busts/statues? One man looks like terra cotta, and the other is white with a chest full of medals.

No DLV dagger (yet!!) in the collection, must be the first LW model, you see.
If you mean the helmet on the left, that is a Flemish piqueneer helmet 17 th century.

The terra cota is a unidentified officer of the Garde Civique, sort of Dad's army for Britain, and National Guard for the US. Those units had been abolished at the beginning of WWI because the Germans treated them as "non regular army" and killed every GC made prisoner. The unit was never put up again.
The other one's are former king's of Belgium; Albert I and Leopold III.

Just a temporary set up! Didn't wanted to leave the collection in boxes when we moved, and got what ever I had to put at display.
Next week we will start the definitive set up. The wall on the opposite of the entrance should become one display behind glass.

Somehow I missed days and days of this thread. And it just happens to be my most favorite to read.
What outstanding finds by everyone. I am truly jealous.

Oh Greg, you make me nostalgic for Manhattan in the 70's. I didn't live there, but commuted to an office right across from Madison Square Garden.
I worked in the city during the times off from college, mostly in the summers.

I loved going to Macy's on 34th St and having lunch in their restaurant. They had a lot of counters and one dedicated to just those wanting deli sandwiches.
Pretty good for a non-kosher place. Going to Bonwit Teller for a quick look at the treasures in the ladies sections.

Going to manufacturers showrooms on Fashion Ave and watching for new trends.

Back at the office, having the manufacturers come in with bagels, muffins, donuts kibbutzing with us for some laughs.

It was a good time for me, but way to brief. Bittersweet I think.
    :)

I think you meant to type kibbitz; a Kibbutz is a collective farm. Now that would be a heckuva perk, since it would involve a plane ride to Israel.

Used to go to Macy’s and Gimbels with my grandma all the time when I was little and I’m sure we ate in Macy’s restaurant as well.
    :)
Did you ever, probably not, ride any of the bus lines that went under a hotel and were turned by hand on the rotating platform?
    :)
    WOW did I LOVE that!
I have pictures if anyone wants to see. :)
