Hi,
I always wanted a Mont Blanc. While trying on sample sweaters at a famous fashion house (who could resist 3 thousand dollar sweaters for 50 bucks). The sweater that I loved I took home. Three days later while donning the sweater, I found a Mont Blanc fountain pen stuck to the inside of the sweater!!! I used that pen for 10 years until it eloped with someone from my office. I still the bottle of Mont Blanc ink that I used to fill the pen.

Easy come, easy go I guess. Bet it lasted longer than the sweater did.

 

That must have hurt, finding out it was a pencil.

 

I bought the DH a Mont Blanc fountain pen for his birthday with part of the proceeds from my first big sale. That was 13 years ago & he still is using it.

she was a business woman...with her own clothing line....& I was a business man, signing 100 factory checks a week as just part of my work....and it was the 80's....everyone was using fancy pens........& I get a pencil !

Still have the sweater doesn't fit but it is still in perfect shape. 2 thousand dollar sweaters never wear out. I have my Dads old coat from the 1920s It is fine shape except the buttons have been replaced three times and the pockets need relining.
Things were made to last back then.

Yes..Greg...everything is "disposable" now...

 

I have many vintage long coats.
My best one was made in Brooklyn and probably in the 40s but not sure. The sleeves finally tried to let go and I had it repaired with heavier thread/cord.
I have a shorter one that weighs a ton and may be 30s...not sure.

 

when I married my Ex....this sister was in the process of suing the entire family...
I think the pencil was a slight..

I have my Dads above the knee leather coat.....it's like wearing an animal....a big heavy animal...& it's got a wool lining for when you want to feel like a toddler in a snow suit !!!
I get in the car with it on....& I can't hardly move in my seat !!
It should last another 100 years !!

Was just thinking how wonderful it was to live in Manhattan in the 1970s. Got to go to sample sales at fashion houses only by invite. Having a Tiffany charge account, seeing famous people jogging in the park. Had a good life and never thought about it. The best was living in a famous architect designed apartment, two bedrooms, a 10 foot wide by 14 ft long balcony over looking the Brooklyn Bridge, eight walk in closets. Only paying 400 dollars a month rent. The best was the laundry room being on the roof, not hidden in the basement. I guess the good old days were better than I thought. Sea planes to Fire Island and Philadelphia two blocks away. My wonderful date with Marlo Thomas. Helping Earth Kitt to her feet after a nasty spill in Central Park. She was wearing an intense pink jogging suit with rows of Rhinestones down the sleeves and numerous gold bangles. She smelled so good, I can still smell her perfume.

Hey.....you've got some fine memories......& you're still able to go there...and bring them up to the surface....with a smile on your face.....
What more can one ask of the passage of time !!!!

 

Now if only that sweater still fit... Manhattan in the good old days must have been fascinating, back before they Disneyfied it.

 

Checked out a few cshops yesterday. Spent less than a tenner. The drip vase is Shelley, teeny chip I can sort out. The plastic bangle may be Lea Stein, 80p spent there. Guides brooch £1 for my Niece, the diamanté bracelet is so well made, no rough areas and with an extender too. It has 'love' engraved on it and another squiggle which if I can photo it I'll post on the forum. The box it came in was worth more than the £1.50 spent. The silver bangle is I believe a genuine Pandora, it is well made, has the S925 and ALE marks inside the clasp .

 

Got this watercolour too for £2. By uk artist Paul Stafford, entitled 'the busy world is hushed' he has a few pictures online.
