Got a Marantz 65 watt amplifier out of GW today for 8 bucks - couple sprays of Deoxit on the volume pot and it sounds amazing.

:) What’s that worth? Should we/I watch for such things?

I generally avoid older stereo equipment for resale because they usually require at least cracking them open and cleaning out all the pots...and I'm just too lazy to do too much of that any more - ha. Do a completed sale search for Marantz amplifier on Ebay though - I found one today that sold for 240 bucks - that had smoke coming out of it - ha! Depending on the model old Marantz amps in good running condition can bring 400-1000 bucks.

Note - IMHO - Marantz amps are about the cleanest sounding things out there - great sound. I'm probably keeping this one - although if I sold it I expect I'd get around 250.

    Ok. Thank you!
Would I have to have a guitar to test them?
    Even a cheap crappy one?

Marantz is excellent stuff. I had a far more expensive amp which died, replaced it with Marantz and the sound is lovely.

My first good setup was Quad. It got a bit flaky, so we replaced it. Himself reckoned I ought to junk the old stuff. Five hundred quid later on Ebay, he agree I was right NOT to junk it. SOmeone bought the preamp for the front panel alone.

Nice ones! I'd have bagged the lamp too.

These were found assembled as one necklace in a consignment store. Someone had jumbled the beads together. They were sold as glass and plastic for $10. Uhmmm - try rock crystal and vintage if somewhat the worse for wear amber. I gave them a divorce and added some copper findings.

Paid an Australian dollar apiece for six fountain pens at a garage sale at the weekend and this one cleaned up to be a Sterling Parker. It is looking like a winner on that auction site. Oh joy, oh glad (as I believe Man Friday said.)

It is beautiful. I was late to this sale and couldn't believe that people had let so much slip by. A really nifty Onoto, two other vintage Parkers ...

I can better this. Years ago I bought a complete set in the original box. My husband nabbed it for himself as soon as I took it home. I can never recollect him using it though. He bought me a parker laque 3 piece set in the 1970's which I still use occasionally. I can well understand why people collect pens.

LOL. I found one of those pens at a yard sale too, complete with box. Promptly sold it on a certain auction site of course! The only Mont Blanc pieces I generally find are phonier than a campaign promise.
