And I even have a small handheld matt cutter, and a huge table top one worth hundreds of dollars when new. I got them at an estate sale years ago. Have never used either one.

 

I've sliced my finger twice.....that was enough for me....besides they get the nice beveled edge on it!!!!!

 

I’ve a couple of hand held mat cutters and I think the hardest thing is meeting the corners.
Never been cut though.

 

A while since my last post in the finds thread. Here are some of my nicer finds, all bought out of local charity shops for cheap, i have posted a couple elsewhere on the forums but here goes.

Dump glass paperweight, the blue foil used in this one is very rare, lovely quality too


Enamel canton box, a but damaged but very pretty

Indian silver bowl, 9cm diameter, a couple of dents but still really nice


Pair of 12” cloisonne chargers, not that good condition, but again really nice. I always enjoy the contrasting colours of the borders on these.

 

These are the ones from Thursday. No great age, but they missed the hallmarks, and only the bead at the bottom of the silver ones is glass.

 

Ratsy, that's a sulphide dump and a very handsome one, too. I love those.

Do I need to stalk you to find out which charity shops?

 

I found this bottle the other day at the thrift ,thought it was pretty kewl, fox and hound , product of G.T. Glenin Trudel, made in Italy .The bottle is 4" wide 10" high . inscription on one glass says Pitiful this was the only thing i could steal at Chad and Alice's wedding nov 24th 2007 but i think that it is just a replacement for a lost or broken shot glass , and I think the topper is not original either. Covered in tooled leather . .

 

Wonder which one threw what 10 years later.

They do seem to be Kurt Alder though I’ve only found them in sets of 6 different ones and poorly photographed.
There are literally hundreds of these sets on eBidet!!!

I remember in the late sixties, when living in Sunderland, we saw lots of dumps on windowsills and as door stops. I believe a lot were made in the Hartley woods glass factory. Hartley woods made glass for stained glass windows.

 

Been awhile since posting here. Am finding mostly run-of-the-mill stuff for the store Couple exceptions here. I actually bought the first three here from our store as sleepers from other dealers.

I guess the people around here know Fulper Pottery and its prices. The Fulper Pottery became the Stangl Pottery and then OOB. Fulper always brings nice prices, at least here.

Meanwhile up here in CT only the dealers know Stangl and catch cold selling it. I grab pottery made in Newark whenever a piece turns up cheap, which isn't often, if only because it was made in Newark.

 

Not much antiquing going on in the middle of winter in the Midwest and I've not been feeling well for the past week.

1st auction of the year for me and I acquired this Rookwood cigarette box. Apparently the auctioneer was selling the contents of an antique shop and many of the items still had price tags on the bottom. Luckily I got this piece for much lower than the price on the sticker.

Really like this piece and it already looks great in my stack bookcase with other art pottery.
