More like a fox, if it's a Canadian souvenir.

One of my favorite finds of the year! $10 Victorian bride's basket stand. I practically had a heart attack when I spotted it on the shelf, and snatched it up to cradle in my arms straight to the cash register. Now, it has become my life's quest to find a bride's basket to match.

That's sweet, @Barn Owl ! What does the top look like? Is it marked underneath?

Thank you, Bakersgma! The top is undecorated, with a scalloped edge. It's slightly tarnished on the top, and the upper layer of plate has unfortunately rubbed away in places.
Underneath, it's marked "Simpson Hall Miller and Co Quadruple Plate", with a pattern number of 1914.

Too bad about the wear, but I think it might be from whatever was always on top. Is the top totally flat or is there some kind of depression where a glass "basket" would sit?

Yeah, I figure that it'll be hidden by the glass basket. There's a circular depression.

    Hi,
Pretty basket. The 1914 was probably a model number. I think 1912 was the last of the quadruple plate was used.

If they suggest a way to use 'inert' in a passage about the elephant hunt, would love to see it. Guess maybe, since the exercise seems to be to make a little story, not to describe the picture, you could write that fear made one of them inert? Know you lot will be full of story ideas. The 'Red Indian' scene is full of possibilities.

Fill it with grog. If that doesn't make you want to drink, I don't know what would!

Blue Jays. But y'all knew that. Question is whether it is Ojibway fan made.

All I found today was ice. I was supposed to get Christmas cookies and dinner, but ..not so much.

Evelyb, I'm sorry the day was a bust.

Our postman somehow missed his present (homemade cookies, an insulated drinks mug, and a Dunkin gift card) left with a HUGE note on the front porch. (Our mail gets delivered to the door...)

I guess we'll be taking it down to the PO on Tuesday...
