I've just bought a very expensive and damaged stoneware barrel at auction.

Will post photo tomorrow but I think it may be mid 17th century

    Or not!

And a treasure island jug by Noke.

And a gefle zebra part tea service

    And several car loads more.

    Spent up now :)

Me too - can't find a ton about her online - she's from Oroville CA (like both of my parents!) and she does pottery in the style of native american baskets. A couple of her pieces reside in the Smithsonian collection.

But not out of your price range in this case. I went to three thrifts today but only bought at the first one. Spent $6.50 and walked out with mostly sterling and a pair of gold earrings. The earrings don't weigh much, but for 50 cents I wasn't arguing. The second thrift I went into, my honesty got the better of me. They had some jewelry in the back room ...and I had to tell them one cuff was most likely modern Native American sterling. It didn't have a silver mark. Another bracelet I called dibs on if it ever made it into the case, which I don't think it will. They'll probably take it straight to the jeweler. It had a buried 18k mark on it.(waaaaahhh) OTOH if I hadn't seen it today I probably wouldn't have even known it ever went through the door, so no loss. No gain either, but no loss.

DSCF7409small.jpg Today's haul. The frog and gold earrings, such as they are, are slated for my sister's annual hoard additions. The tree frog is a running joke, or hopping joke, and gold is gold. They're light little hollow things, but as I said at 50 cents (about 35p for the Brits) there was no downside. One ring didn't make the picture; it's hiding in my purse.

Is it weird to say I prefer the frog to the porringer? (no one has to polish the frog.)
Those little Seminole dolls are really cute too, but I love a nice tacky frog.

The frog is funky, fabulous, tacky in the best way - and his eyes are hypnotizing - I keep trying not to stare into them - but it isn't working...

You Will Worship the Electric Frog? That thing belongs behind a beaded curtain with burning incense. Covering the smell of something else, probably....
