nice pieces:) I'm still amazed that people pay you to empty their houses and you find some good stuff, here they expect you to pay them for the privilege of hauling their stuff to the dump.

I do pay for some, when the contents are sellable or collectable.
The last two clearances contained a lot of junk and were dirty, I have to pay to dump because I`m registered as trade, however I do try and minimize the amount I dump by recycling as much as possible.
All metals (like aluminium pans)get put in bins for taking to the smelters where I receive payment for the weight.
I have a 2 weigh ins a year, Copper, Aluminium, Brass and Lead
Clothing and bric a brac to charity shops.

davey, Google on Hoover Building at Greenford. It narrowly escaped being illegally demolished and was then converted to, of all things, a Tesco. It's now being redone as fancy flats, which for once, I approve of. Amazing building, I love it.

Yes I passed it late last year or early this year, either before or after Acton, amazing.

Before, if you're coming from the West on the A40. The shameful thing is that the Firestone Building, which was another stunner, didn't survive.

That is a truly super cool building!!!:happy::happy::happy:

I am glad someone had the sense to save it for future generations.

About time someone saved a nice building. I went out looking a bit today and found a way to waste gasoline. Yesterday I found a waste of money; one of these days I'll learn to stop gambling on those dumb jewelry jars at the IllWill... The bargain priced 14k contemporary earrings, on the other hand...(LOL) All day, every day.

London made the mistake of allowing far too many good buildings to be lost in the 60s and 70s. Thankfully, it's now gone the other way. The other one we nearly lost was the fabulous St Pancras station which is a Victorian jewel.

The money they didn't get went to a retiring teacher today, who supplied me with all sorts of odds and sods for packing and storage for a whopping $10. Not to mention art supplies. When it comes to art supplies, just call me Sucker.(LOL) Then there's the Israeli sterling I found at another sale...for three bucks. That needs investigation.
