...and make you money instead of costing it. Gotta love that part.

A few new purchases. They were on the cheap side due to the pinholes in the fractional and a tear in the Virginia note. I usually don't collect damaged items but these were to cheap to pass up!

Is the second one Confederate? If it is and it's real...score. Then again, people collect the counterfeits too if they're old.

Yes. It is a Virginia Treasury Note dated July 1862 so it is Civil War Era. Many southern rebel states produced similar notes to finance the war. I believe that it is authentic since the ink used in the signature and serial number looks correct for the era. The paper looks right too, it is the thin brittle rice paper that was common for use by the Confederate States.

There are a number of these notes currently available on eBay and they don't sell for that much, especially in this condition. I actually paid $6 for the above example at an estate auction.

Interesting text on authenticating Confederate Currency (PDF) and a list of common repros.

Hello! I came across what I believe is an awesome find. I got it at a garage sell this weekend because I thought it was cool. I know nothing about it. I did try to google the markings but I really only got that it is from the Philippines because of ft.magsaysay. I really want to know about the brass serpent as the guard and so much more... Please, any info or leads would be greatly appreciated! Yes. Those are very nice too!
Do you know what the serpent may represent on the one I have? I think the 1ID stands for 1st infantry division and the 1SB is for 1st signal battalion and could be ww2 or phillipine american war. I would love to be able to find out.

I`m describing this as a pot cupboard even though it was found in a bedroom., Edwardian with black & cream Bakelite knobs.

7 foot tall bureau and glazed bookcase, with glass inkwells.
Its a shame it won`t sell and I`m loath to let someone paint it so I`ve brought it home, I will use it in my study.
