I went today, and bought a jar that went to half price. There are some Israeli hollowform earrings in the bottom. No great shakes, but with the rest I should break even at least.

 

I wonder how many Russian pieces the guy has since he said he is selling them from a consignment lot. I would love to get some bracelets and more earrings.

I was so excited to find the viking helmet and the tiki lamp, my best finds for this week. I also got some suitcases and galvanized tub (both out the door), Montana Marble Inc plaque The Protector with a face hidden in it, a Filip Ravert glass piece, some Sherman Jewels and the Calvin Begay choker set

 

That opal set is to die for!

 

Nothing too great in this group but maybe worth showing. All are thrift store finds.

Yugoslavian shepherds cup. Bought for 50 cents.

Pyrex bowl was $1.50. Best part is that it completes a set I have been piecing together.


Set of 6 of these Fiestaware branded glasses. Bought for $3.00. These sell well, so worth buying.


This pottery pitcher is probably German and was painted Matte black. Under the paint, it looks like it used to be silver deposit decorated. Not sure what I do now but it was only a buck.


This is a little Riihimaki art glass vase was designed in 1970 by Erkkitapio Siiroinen. Decent find for a dollar.


These 6 wheel-cut design goblets were only $1.50 for all. I didn't realize that one of them is a different design, although on the same blank as the others. At that price, it doesn't really matter.

I got these all the same day. The bowl is covered with cut shell fragments. I might try to figure out how to make this into a lamp shade. Bought for $1.50. The two shells were 75 cents each. The one is ground and polished in stripes to reveal the mother of pearl. I will probably fit it for a night light.


This leather covered bottle was $1.50. I am guessing that it is missing a stopper.


This McKee glass pitcher is dated 1951. It is about 5" tall and the lid is spring-loaded. Seems a bit large for a syrup pitcher but that is what sellers seem to be calling it. Bought for $1.00.


These wrought iron snakes look like they are supposed to hold something (vase?). Bought for 75 cents.

Yes, a local 24hour auction site on Facebook. I listed it and it got a bid immediately. Great way to sell stuff, they pick it up and no fees

Love the snakes!

 

The snakes are cool....& may have been a holder but they look better alone !
The cup is wonderful, & the shell with the holes is Abalone....& one can usually tell which, from the interior.

 

My best find was this serigraph. Also a thrift store find but I had to pay $20.00 for it. It is by known Pittsburgh artist Howard L. Worner. It is signed, numbered, and dated 1959. Worner was well known and is the subject of two publications, yet he doesn't seem to be listed in the standard art references. I also found few sales records for him. It doesn't really matter, as this is right within my primary collecting interest and is not going anywhere any time soon.

Pic is not the best since taken through glass at an angle to avoid glare. It is titled J and L and the River. It is of the South works of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Co. just outside of Pittsburgh. You can see the city in the background.

 

Brad - Look at Libbey / Rock Sharpe for your tea tumblers.

 

If you have access to a drill press you can probably, VERY carefully bore a hole in the potential shade's center with a glass drill, the 'stone' type.
Though I'm suspecting you may be planning to mount it with 3-4 arms and clips.

My snakes do have a holes where tongues would fit. There are no signs of a base and no mark. Maybe a knock-off?
