    No good auctions this weekend but I did pick this up at a thrift shop. Thought that it looked kind of cool and it was cheap enough. Probably1950's or 60's.

    Either that or he ate far too much tabasco on his wedding breakfast!

    The full pile of stuff worth seeing. There's another stained glass dreidel too, and a menorah. I need to test the necklace; it's supposed to be Israeli silver. DSCF5215.JPG

    The silver necklace with the Chai looks amazingly like a Judith Ripka piece. I know she did a few Star of David necklaces, but I am unfamiliar with this piece.........

    that looks small for a necklace......a choker at best...

    Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, - youse gets the prize!!!! Of course, now that I actually look at it closely, I think it is a bracelet................sorry!

    But it still looks like a Judith Ripka piece...............or maybe Barbara Bixby.............both have an affinity for those hearts (usually with a couple of white sapphires in them)........

    I think this one is from Hallmark; it's rhinestone. I only wish it were Ripka; it's probably a copy.

    A synagogue rummage sale for the dreidels, and a tag sale for the bracelet. We have a big Jewish population here, if not as large as it used to be.

    Pure glass in this case, but they're new production from Joseff of Hollywood. In their heyday they made costume for Hollywood productions. Now they have a retail arm.

    Amazingly nobody else was interested in this auction lot, which came with a large teak handmade bowl from the 1960s, along with a few small brass items.

    For me it ticked the right boxes (unusual and makes me learn!) and the lot cost just $7.25!

    Shown are incense burner with copper and silver inlay, 2 Thai buddhas, Lord Shiva and Circle of Fire but I'm not sure where the buddha (right/back) comes from. It seems to be made in two parts, probably bronze casting of figure, that was once gilded, with a backplate either of bronze or brass. The two parts have been fixed together at the edges with a silvery metal that has been rubbed down to give a smooth finish .

    I have a Buddhist friend with a house in Thailand and he says that the weight of the Thai buddhas and this other buddha are heavier than he would expect to see in Thailand.

    $ 7.25.....yer kiddin !!!
    I don't know enough about these items to know if they were stolen from a temple :jawdrop: , or if they are early tourist items :rolleyes:......but for that price it sounds as though everyone was sleeping ..or out to lunch when the hammer fell ! :hungry::hungry:

    A smart buy in any universe !!! :happy:

    The other bidders were asleep at the switch. Not my cup of chai, but at that price you couldn't miss!

    Neat lot rhiwfield! Great price as well. We have an auction house 'out in the country' fairly close to me where we just relocated to. I just passed on their most recent sale due to unpacking, but will try and make the next one. Planning next week to go thrifting locally for the first time. C'mon next week... no WHAMMIES... STOP!
