I rotate any needing it on my computer so this shouldn't happen but think I have to just stop using my camera vertically for photos here and just have a weird horizontal photo because I'm not going to crop them all. :p

Forgot this great book from '61. I've not cleaned or repaired it as yet.

I knew it. Milt likes girls!(LOL)

I went to a local charity thrift today and bought a baggie of souvenir spoons for $10. Why? First, I found almost enough silver scrap to pay for the bag. (Italian souvenir spoons and a broken one of unknown origin) Second ... DM Fitch, active in New York circa 1840-1850. I think this is small enough to have been coin silver made from a single coin. Better yet, it's a miniature ladle rather than a standard spoon. It's headed for Ebay soon. Third, a USS Maine commemorative spoon. It's worn silverplated brass, but Spanish-American war homefront souvenirs don't show up too often. DSCF3820.JPG DSCF3819.JPG

Evelyb, if you're going to sell it, be sure to call it a mustard ladle. I have a bunch of these myself, and for some reason, they seem to sell better when you mention "mustard" rather than "tiny" or "miniature"...

Of course, the fact that mustard reacts badly with silver makes the ladle's use with it impractical... It has always stymied me. Why would you stick your silver in something that will almost immediately discolor it?

Either way, silver mustard ladles always seem to sell well.

Mustard doesn't immediately discolour silver. I've ladles that were used by Ma, and as long as you rinsed them not too long after use, they were fine. I am, of course, talking properly made from scratch English mustard which has no vinegar in it.

had no idea that mustard would ever have omitted vinegar. More recipes to read.

    Only fair...
Vinegar doesn't even allow mustard to parties. :)

I went through my bag and found enough real ones to pay for the baggie. The good stuff is gravy. DSCF3837.JPG I found this thing a week ago. It looks like an arrowhead, but I'm not sure if it's actually old or just a repro. It was found in a very modern wooden base thingie.
