Same estate sale as the painting,I ran out of money or Id have had scads more!
The Italian pottery is by Desimone for Vietri,the lipstick case is marked 800 silver,the compact Ive yet to find a mark on,the necklace and ring are costume($2 for the pair) ,the little silver and diamond one Im going to start a thread on( I swear that diamond in the top is real!) .

 

Hmmm,it left out the pottery!

 

I especially like the painting and the painting on the compact.

 

The lipstick is lovely !!
The pendant is not how I would expect a real diamond to be set......

 

Besides the pendant being silver,the stones appear to be set just like thousands of diamonds are set into jewelry everyday.The photo is not in focus and too much light reflection.the small stones appear to have 3 beads per stone the rest are bezel set and the border edges of the metal is milgrained.

I dont think the pendant stone might be real as much as the smaller one.Any ideas on age?

 

I'm not seeing much age on the necklaces; I'd guess 1990s or later on both. I think the multicolor one comes from a company that sells jewelry to cruise passengers. The other is a pretty classic modern copy of Intermediate/Edwardian/Titanic design.
My haul today from the local IllWill wasn't as good. I ended up with a pre-stretched canvas, a 5x7 frame for a craft project and these three little bits. The ring box was already here. The ring is 14k with a nice amethyst. The earrings are sterling and likely plastic (odd but true) and the rhinestones are ...rhinestoney.

 

You almost got the multi color necklace but mom scooped it! Thanks for chiming in,Id hoped you would.Just out of curiosity,did they set stones like that (with a solid back) in the old days?

 

Only rhinestones, generally. It wouldn't surprise me if this is set with CZs however. The multicolor piece may be Impuse of Little Switzerland. Most of what they sell now is fine jewelry. I have a bracelet sitting here with its original tags; otherwise I wouldn't know either. It's too new.

 

Some things found over the past few weeks. All are from the thrift stores.

This oil painting is signed Betty Louise Hinton Parker on the back. I can find an obituary for her husband locally but nothing for her. It is oil on loose canvas but matted and framed under glass. The sight/painted area size is approx. 12 x 15. It is just a painting of blades of grass but it has a kind of rhythmic abstract quality to it. Bought for $6.00.



I actually hate these budoir lamps and may smash them to pieces for the parts .... LOL! I bought these for $2.00 each because of their cool MCM conical fiberglass shades that were on them and did not go with them at all. Unfortunately, I failed to bring the shades home to photograph them. You will have to use your imagination for now.



All this Guardian ware was $12.00. One of the glass tops is cracked but the other two are fine.



These three boxes of M. C. Escher soft puzzles have never been opened. They date to 1996 and sell for decent money. Bought them at a buck apiece on a hunch.


This L. E. Smith jar with ground glass stopper and condiment dish with blue lid were 50 cents each.


This Napier silver plate wine coaster with stopper was 75 cents. The Carl Sorensen bookend was a buck. Too bad there was only one.


This necklace appears to be natural pearls for the most part (I have my doubts about the three larger round ones on the drop portion). I think it is pretty ugly but someone should want it for the pearls. Bought for $5.00.



Best find was this pair of signed etchings by Lyman Byxbe (1886-1980). They seem to only be bringing about half of what they once brought on ebay so may just keep them for awhile. Paid $6.00 each.

 

Maybe the Estes Park stuff will make a comeback with the Hollywood types buying up the area

 

The pearls could all be real; Chinese freshwaters come all shapes and sizes. They aren't worth a ton, but at five bucks you couldn't miss by much. A nice clasp costs more than that, even a costume one.

 

Got a chance to check out the pearls better. Of the three large pearls in the drop, two show seams when held to strong light. The largest one doesn't seem to have any translucence to it and is just too flawless. It also doesn't seem quite right when rubbed to tooth..... completely smooth. The rest all check out as real.

 

Smooth and seams ... yeah, fakeroni. Real pearls are slightly rough. Fakes are smooth. On the other hand, some good costume pearls are worth more than the Chinese freshwaters. Go figure.

 

Just my opinion, but I hae one in a similar style..... I would date it to circa 1910- 1920s, not repro.....I think it his hard to find more modern pieces marked 'sterling," usually they are marked "925" nowadays.....I would venture the stones are glass, but have them tested to be sure.... mine are glass.

 

Duh, somehow this posted twice.... and I would say the cut of the biggest glass stone is vintage.

Went to an antique show last month, not much there worthwhile, but hubby got me this diamond band (I have trouble with bands due to arthritis, and this fit perfectly), not that sparkly, but it is 14k and cost less than most sterling bands nowadays. Plus I love pear-shaped stones.

Then I got this at an antique mall for $3- Jay Strongwater, I love it, it's not going anywhere soon.


I miss you guys, I will try to get more pics uploaded of latest stuff.... pickins are slim this time of year in this area.
