Interesting. I just tested the green beads with UV and they've a nice blue veil. So maybe amber after all.

I don't think I've ever seen amber that color before. Green amber yes, but it's more of an olive green.

I've got some very vicious bright green modern amber that's been reconstituted and dyed, and also the more olive green colour. But no, not that muted opaque green.

Missed you guys. I am working a lot....

I love Terry's bath mat knife, and alexandrite, oh my! The fountain pens are to die for. All great stuff, guys.

I went to an outdoor antique show and bought a repro Chinese crackle glaze vase for $5. I knew it was a repro, and liked it anyway.

And then I visited a thrift shop on the way home, and lo and behold.....the largest ivory piece I have found yet, 42" long, heavy, highly polished.... wish the silverplate (I think it is silverplated) beads weren't on it.

And here is the repro vase, a whole $5. I fell in love with the colors, and it was pretty cheap for a vase.

I don't even want to know what that necklace cost; I'd get too jealous. I'd be guessing those beads are real silver. The vase wouldn't be my first choice, if only because Grandma left behind a pile of Asian ceramics. None of that is worth any money either.:)

$8 plus tax. Most of out thrifts are now charging tax, even though the proceeds go to charity.

I do think it's silverplate, though.....

You did well on that one! The thrifts here all have to charge tax, unless they're on the grounds of the hospital or school or whatever they support. But then this is Connecticut, and they tax anything that stands still long enough.
