Wonderful watch and bracelet !!

 

The watch is an Omega - (other than seeing the symbol on the Olympic timers, I'm unfamiliar with the brand) ... 10K GF ... and working!

Omega watches can be very collectible so you may want to do your homework if you are going to sell the watch.

I bought one for the DH back in 1974 when graduated from college & paid $225.00. Now it is the model "that went to the moon with the astronauts", but I could sell it right now for about what I paid for SS Rolex I gave him for our 30th anniversary.

He just had some work done on both watches & he had to buy a new band for the Omega. The band cost us more than twice what I paid for the watch originally. I sold his old beat up one on ebay just this week & it is going back to Switzerland most like to be used for parts to fix vintage watches.

If you have any work done on it make sure they are experienced in Omega repair work. They are somewhat like Rolexes & not just anyone should be monkeying around with the insides.

Thanks for the heads up, Peggy! This one was well loved and worn often if the wear to the gold is any indication So far it has gained 8 minutes in the past hour! ... so it has the ability to make time fly by as well

 

Maybe it's the Doctor's watch? Expose any terrestial tech to the time vortex and it's bound to go a little wonky.

Quirky, I've got that round Damascene brooch. Your turquoise bits look decent enough, I think the cuff is Zuni petit point.

 

If the Omega is a lady's watch, the value will be far lower than a man's size example.

The thing is that only men collect or hoard old watches, and all they want is something that they can wear without going for full drag.

If it is a man's watch, then it should do a couple of hundred dollars. The overspeed may be due to a magnetised hairspring, ask a watch repairer to de-gauss it and then put it on the timing machine. If you have a bulk tape eraser lying around you could try that to demagnetise it. A watch de-gausser will automatically lower the magnetic fields before switching off. For any other bulk demagnetiser, slowly move it a couple of feet away before switching off, for the same efffect.

Any competent repairer can clean such a watch, there is no need whatsover to be bled dry by the main dealers.

 

Didn't get the clock I wanted at the auction but here are a few of the bits and pieces we acquired.

In value terms, and the most pricey by far, was the stereo instantograph. Some condition issues but a pretty rare item that will hopefully sell very well.

Other than that a nice Winchcombe pottery cider flagon, a 1912 Royal Worcester premium egg cup with instructions, mechanical bottle stoppers, Isaac Walton dish, plastic beaker, 1820-30 english duo, continental duo, Ewenny milk jug and 1938 underground map.

Oh and a mine coal wagon rules notice.

 

What did the clock go for?
What possible instructions could you have for an egg cup, even a premium one? Insert egg. Remove one end of shell. Eat the contents. Burp.

The stereo gadget should do well, I have not seen one.

 

I could be interested in that Underground map.

 

I switched off bidding when it got to £40+ including premium as I didn't have a good idea of value and it was the regular clock buyers bidding. This is the point where you tell me I should have gone to £100!!

The egg cup is more usually called a coddler. Worcester still make them.

 

From the museum of Royal Worcester:"From 1910 until 1928 Egg Coddlers are recorded in the Royal Worcester factory ledgers as ‘Premier Egg Cups’, perhaps relating to their high-class associations. They are usually marked with the patent registration number 561564"

We bought a load of modern egg coddlers a few months ago and have sold nearly all of them. Until I bought this I didnt realise they had an earlier RW name!

Get a bad one and you throw it away before cooking.

'More Digestible' Don't you miss all those spurious medical claims, like Ideal for Invalids? Grab that scalding hot ceramic holder lke a normal egg-cup and you have a nasty burn.

What it really means is that Cook will be dealing with all the bad eggs and eggshells and youwill have more time to wax your moustaches.
