But it worked out. The guy does house clean outs, and mostly has the same jewelry over and over again, way junky. He has the jewelry resting on a folded up tablecloth, so I looked in the folds in the tablecloth to see if there was anything I missed. Yup, there was, a beautiful pair of 14k emerald-cut green tourmaline earrings, they cost a whole dollar. Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the :bored:bug.

    Hi,
My favorite was a sterling silver man's ring with a red stone, paid 3 bucks. Had for almost 8 years. A friend bought a gem tester and was trying it out. I gave him the ring and it showed the stone was real. I laughed and said you paid too much for the tester. A few months later I was at the jewelry store and the jeweler said that the stone was real. He gave me 3 thousand for the ring.

    Hi,
It looked like an art deco inspired man's birthstone ring.
Since there were no chips on it I figured it was not worn that much. I'll have to see if I have a picture of it.

Wow indeed! I have been looking for a nice Burmese ruby for years....and I realize the prices.... great find! I hope you still have the picture. Evelyb, the sterling Silpadas with tourmaline are a great find, too. That stuff is very popular here.... antique dealers say gold is nice, but their sterling is what sells....

    They say that here, anyway...

I was looking through my picture files trying to see if I photographed them, no, but I did find one of my all-time favorite "finds"- a teacher angel. There was a set of two, the other was a vintage nurse angel, for $7 at a flea market, I just bought the teacher angel for $3.50.... shoulda picked up the nurse angel, never saw anything like either one of them since.....
