Marco, you have piqued my interest with the formerly-yours hand-embroidered hankie. I wonder if perhaps it was done by a relative for a child who would be moving (or merely traveling) to another part of the country for the girl/child to carry with her on the journey and as a reminder of "home."

Or perhaps there is a (child's?) book about a little girl traveling to or moving somewhere (maybe to be with other relatives) and the hankie was copied from a picture in such a book.

I did a quick bit of research on children's books with "girl red suitcase" but didn't find anything.

Interesting hankie and the story behind its creation could be sweet/bittersweet.

I think I might need help with my over-abundance of sentimentality and "imaginings."

Good luck, Lloyd! Yourturn, I love hankies. I don't see them much anymore... only antique stores, same with older linens, I still use doilies. Evelynb, beautiful beads!

I am going to try to post bit by bit some finds... I was lamenting the lack of finds at a formerly-great flea market by me when I found this dollar table. I picked this up, I thought the image was spectacular. I figured it was silver-plated. Medusa.jpg celtic pentagram (566x640).jpg
The front features an image of Medusa, the back features a Celtic pentagram. So I start to clean it up with silver polish (the back not so much), and I am thinkin' "hmmmmm..... this looks like sterling" but I couldn't find a mark. On the bottom edge of the piece it is marked "999 fine silver." I google the figures and it turns out it was made by Quicksilver Mint, and they custom make these, both sides, from molds they have. To make this one today would cost $80.

Then I couldn't resist this antique mall find, 800 silver, seems to be black mother of pearl, a rendering of the three graces? or an angel?, for $12:

DSC08171.JPG well the officer found another print that he says is better than the ones i found ,it is on the leg(rf), but he can't really go into it further without it being a criminal investigation( and he would have to break the leg off to examine it, not happening lol) and the gov won't fund it. so it is off to see Biro 3rd week of July after the fair as Nick has to work it for the lions club .

    Dear Randy,

I can be available for your project staring in August.

Very difficult to estimate costs. My best guess is 2000-4000 CDN.

I would focus on fingerprints, human hair in paint for possible DNA match.

I would also want to test all the pigments to be sure there is nothing there that could post-date the assumed date of the object. That would add a few thousand more to the costs.

    I hope this helps,

    Paul

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

I say ...go for it.....with one caveat ......

The second this high priced sniffer finds the 1st clue that this is NOT made by Picasso....he must halt his work & bill you only up to that moment !

Paying around $6000 to know for sure that it's just a pretty chair worth $100....
    That's gonna sting !!!

    Congratulations Lloyd!!!!

Okay, I am on a roll, I had a few minutes to myself this morning (that didn't last) so I photographed some more recent finds. From the flea markets, signed pieces from the same seller:

Earrings by Annie Chapo Navajo (sterling all)

Spiderweb matrix turquoise ring by Hopi Caroline Tawangyaouma
    Hopi Caroline.jpg
This ring is probably Navajo, only signed with an electric pen "Happy Birthday Mary, 1986" Back shank split, needs a repair, I need to clean it. I love the sha[ of the turquoise
