As usual, have been buying furniture. Most is not worth showing but here are a few things......

Picked up this handmade solid cherry desk for $40.00 at the thrift. It needed the top organizer attached more securely but didn't have to do anything to it otherwise.

This deco mahogany vanity bench was $7.00 at the thrift. Had already been reupholstered with the vinyl so left it.

This industrial stool was $9.00 at the Goodwill store. Needs some wheels but is pretty good otherwise. Sorry about the cluttered basement picture.

A friend was going to donate this lamp but gave it to me instead. Believe it is a Modeline lamp or similar. This is a good find that can bring pretty good money. I have a few questions about it so will start a separate thread with more pictures later.

Even though this one is a bit beaten up I still like it. I don't recall this series but that is likely because it is from California and I went to school in NJ.
Not sure what, if anything, I will do to clean it up but I'll probably do some repair to the cover and binding. The last page has been torn out though I suspect that was blank and used for a note. :p Maybe a classroom launched paper plane. ;)
I especially like the; 'Good-by, Book Friends' little story. :)
VERY interesting spelling of Bye (twice) for a school book............. :wideyed::eek:

    Thanks!
I have many more such books in better condition with some in far better condition including teacher's editions and test manuals, some never used. :)

Thanks Gila! That lamp is probably the closest example I found to mine but there are still some differences that I will go over in another thread. ;)

The manuals I don't think so, the copies of the kids edition I think so.
    They are in storage now.
Such color pictures are paramount in which kid's books I collect though I sometimes vary that especially in regard to excellence of condition.

There is a citywide trash collection going on here for large problem stuff. There is tons of decent old furniture at the curb for free. Occasionally there is a house that is just throwing out an entire estate.

A few years ago in my parents city just south of here I was doing the free curb shopping. The guy a house ahead of me was loading large heavy boxes onto his trailer. I caught up to him just to see what he found. About a dozen 2x2x1-1/2' boxes of golden age comics.

I'm sure in all this stuff everywhere there is more than one set of old blackened sterling flatware.

The greatest percentage of 'shoppers' are only looking for power cords.

It is truly amazing the things people throw away.
Specially when it's not their own.

The kids split up their folks estate , & no one wanted this , even though I priced it at several hundred dollars for their lawyer....so it ended up in my hands....for free.
