Google Eilat - Solomon's Stone. On second look, and from that description, odds are that's what it is. It could also be a chrysocolla they're subbing in; the mine is played out.

This is only about 6.5 inches high and I have a feeling I sold it cheap. I put it up for sale on Ebay this afternoon, and within 15 minutes somebody bought it. It must have indexed right away, because no sooner did I turn around and look I had a Payment notice.(LOL) It's headed to Israel.

My Dad bought a metal work like that.....in Israel.
It was a wall hanger with leaves showing those same cut marks......
Maybe an isreali artist of note ??

True, but there's always next year, and it might be a gift for someone else. It didn't have a mark on it, so I don't know who made it. The seller said it was purchased in Czechoslovakia, but for all I know it could have been made in Israel. Judaica moves around. I've shipped Israeli-made stuff back to Israel a lot over the years. Some of it's only sold in tourist areas or made for export. The locals have to go hunting overseas to get their own tourist art! It's also likely that buying an old one from me is cheaper than buying one locally; there are more of them here in the States and probably less demand.

Thank you. :) Good quality rhinestones, I suspect, but I'll check them. Paste was wildly fashionable when that buckle was made. It was about eleven dollars, so I was rather pleased!

I think the cross is Eilat stone, having googled a bit on images.

Few interesting ones of yesterday's auction :

A pretty nice HAC mantle clock, a french canterbury and a Besson Concord trombone, apparently pretty rare.

The bookmarks are ink blotters, if memory serves; when people used dip pens and even fountain pens, they needed something to clean the tip off on. The sewing table is probably 1950s. It's made for an electric machine, and the pre-WWI stuff was all treadle. Most of the bases for those were cast iron.

    I'll join the finds thread ;) ...

I found these ladles today for $3.99 each. One is 19", and the other 2 are 17". Based on my web searches, the best I can guess is these are 19th century. I'm undecided if I want to polish them or leave them as is... either way, I think I will find a spot near the fireplace for them. :)
