    Maggots are kind of gross, but useful little critters. They have live fish pedicures in Japan. You put your feet into the fish tank, and the bitty fishies feed on the dead skin. Same idea but somewhat more appealing.

    They have the fish pedicures here also. I had it done once, it was strange but ticklish.

    This is what those celluloid holders are for (not cotton 'puffs'). <<<(didn't want to tempt komo there) ;)
    This was a normal thing back then, to save hair, especially that of a deceased, to make something of all of it. :p

    It looks like someone used the entire family to make that hair wreath; I see several shades of brown, blonde and gray in there. As for the photo, I'd guess late 1880s from the clothes. That could be totally off since I'm not much of an expert. It had to be some time after Queen Alexandra starting wearing those pearl collars; she started the fashion for those really short chokers.

    Wow! Just dug up....wait....out of a BOX....one of those 'mourning' framed hair mementos.....sadly both parents gone, and no-one told me which side of the family or how far back.....my guess would be about 1850's??? The similarities are amazing!

    Sweet! These are the coolest things I found this week. The first pair are a fish and a critter in sterling and a)moss agate and b) rhodochrosite. The second is an owl; it's brass and ceramic and signed with a mystery mark. 101_0048.JPG 101_0049.JPG

    Never had one of those around, but I did have a dizzy bat in the house once. He left like the proverbial on once he figured out where the door was.(LOL) The owl will probably be leaving via the USPS.
