That's very pretty, Terry! Is it a compact or something else?

Finally found something decent at a local thrift and even better, they were having a 50% off the entire store sale in conjunction with the annual street fair! Imperial Glass purple and cream slag toothpick holder (with a touch of blue, I think.) Perfect condition. Only $3.25

Thanks, Pat! Most of what this small thrift has isn't particularly interesting (antique- or collectible-wise), but the volunteers who run it seem to understand "merchandising" and trying to keep things "fresh."

Smart move to keep people coming back.

I like slag glass in general, and particularly like the white and purple in your toothpick holder. It almost looks like they intentionally matched the colors to the design elements, but I'm not sure they even have control over that?

I looked at the Imperial toothpicks on ebay and saw several different color combinations in this style (and similar styles.) Lots of caramel, but I too like the purple better.

LOL! It has been a rare summer, and I will not be getting out much more due to caring for my 89 year-old uncle who just had hernia surgery. Here in Atlantic City area many people are moving and we are having a lot of fly-by-night "estate sale companies" setting up shop. This particular sale I got to at 12:30 p.m. the only day. They had the jewelry in bags marked $10, $5, and $2. I asked the lady at the jewelry table if they had sold much jewelry, and she said she didn't know, she just got there. She said their "jewelry lady" who sorts and checks the jewelry never made it to the sale that day. Ding Ding Ding. So the lady who sorted jewelry never looked at it and put the new blingy rhinestone stuff in the $10 bag. The 14k and silver stuff was in the $5 bag (got more sterling stuff, too, need to photograph.) I also got a freshwater pearl necklace with a 14k clasp from a $2 bag. People were busy looking at the Tupperware and didn't feel like going through the piles of zip lock bags. I went through them three times with my loupe. I don't know if the one cuff link has damage, I have to loupe it more carefully, look at the black background. I never found 14k cuff links, this year I have found two sets so far.....
I went to another sale first that I had gone to on the Thursday it started, and most jewelry was $5. I went back that Saturday, the last day, and it was all half-priced. I went there first and found the 14k still at the second sale. I have to say, my antique malls have been getting more savvy, unfortunately. They are not catching the Napier pieces, though, which are popular since the book I have in the pic came out.

When I look at ebay, 14k cufflinks, the more modern kind, have been running $100-$400. I put all the 14k and sterling in my safety deposit box, keep nothing in the house but what I wear daily. I worry about the economy, downsizing, and it is my rainy day fund.

I used to go to AC every summer with my Grandma and my Dad would arrive on weekends. I miss that so much. :(
We stayed across the street on the North side of the Convention Center. When the guards left the doors I would go all over and up and down that place watching the Ice Capades! :)
It was also a big deal for my Great Grandma to come down and go with us to watch the wrestling. :)
I hope you're in a safe area since I know it's kinda flakey there and has been for awhile. :(
Last time I was there I went to Margate to visit Lucy. :) I recall when she was near the boardwalk. :)
I'm glad she is still with us. :)

King, my grandmother liked to vacation in Atlantic City. I remember one time when I was in high school going with my dad to drive her there.
