    Thanks for that link Nuff!
This is the only Japanese item that I've sold for more than $500.

it was so unusual and large. But man oh man! If that thing had been Chinese it would have sold for 10 x the amount it sold for.

Nuff: what a bummer about that painting. I have had my share of "finds" damaged in the mail. Very sad to see a good piece make it so far and then ruined when it was so close to being appreciated again. If I am buying online from an new seller. I sometimes ask if they need advice on how to ship.

Thanks sharona! Maybe the one you didn't get was japanese instead of a Reuge, and it wasn't worth all that much. That's what I would be telling myself about it, oh, yes I would! We've all left stuff behind that we wished we hadn't. That hurts way worse than losing money on a worthless item....I know this from experience!

This had the type of back you could take off to see the wax seal. It was so well worn and beat up that they had a spot of solder put on the back to keep it on.

I think a tweak to the contrast might improve the pictures.

I realised after posting that this was commenting on a fairly old post but less than optimum contrast is very common with automatic digital cameras. Some post production attention is usually beneficial

@Moon. That's one damn good looking piece...congrats on the sale!

@Trip. Yeah, definitely a bummer! It's happen to me about 5 or 6x over the years that I can recall. Can't cry over spilled milk, just got to back to the store so to speak. To be honest Trip, I'm not sure what the title is. I jacked that image from some dude's eBay listing a while back.

Took me some time to figure-out what the mark represented on the base of this piece purchased for $3...

I went to deliver something I sold. They asked me if I would be interested in buying some things from them for $75. They were going to take them to the Good Will. I got 2 large plastic bins filled with 50 framed, hand colored photographs. Most are signed by Nutting, Davidson, Standley, Thompson, etc. Two large, framed 19th century paintings, 8 framed ink and water color pieces and 2 large ornate antique mirrors. I just couldn't pass it up for that price. They knew what they had, both are collectors.

I have no where to put it. I'm in the process of clearing my shelves so i can move them. I have to install a second sump pump for the inevitable floods that are coming when these massive snow piles melt and April showers begin. Still, I feel like I hit a small jackpot. It will certainly pay for the pump. :D

Fig, most of these are hand colored landscapes. I will try to photograph a few as soon as I get those shelves cleaned out. We're getting another storm tonight, 4-8" and then rain on Wednesday. I'm in panic mode because I know if I don't get that pump installed, I could lose a lot of things with the flooding. I'm heading out now to get groceries, rock salt and plastic bins. LOL, those seem to be the necessary staples this year.
